    Walked right into that one…

Handily that takes us full circle and emphasises my point.

Nani was on £110,000 a week and unwanted by his manager.

That makes it £21.5m package. And as he turns 30 this season and has little sell on value.

How does it make is £21.5mil? That would suggest that Fenerbache are paying him £110k a week. Where's your proof of that brains?

Here are three different outlets that said he was earning £110,000 a week

    http://writtenoffside.com/personal-...-attacker-set-for-manchester-united-transfer/

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-uniteds-nani-facing-years-5693116

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...g-wages-could-cost-Manchester-United-17m.html]

the £21.5m reference is the package for Man United as a seller.

That is £5,720,000 a year in wages saved that they didn’t want to spend.

£17,160,000 over the three years you mentioned

Plus the £4,250,000 in transfer fee received

    £4,250,000 + £17,160,000= £21,410,000

Just so you know he’s on £55,000 a week at Fernabache apparently. But take home pay on someone earning £110,000 a week in England is roughly £55k and I wouldn’t be surprised with a clever accountant his earnings at Fernabache where he will be playing regularly wont be too far off that on a net basis plus a nice sign on fee.

All adds up to supporting my point
Bet you are pleased i cleared that up :emoticon-0148-yes:

Thanks for clearing up that, you hadn't need to as nobody argued that he was on 110k a week at United. My point was you have no proof of his earnings at Fernebache, so you can't say how much the package was.

Back to original point as you clearly have forgotten so had to change point, Matt Phillips is overpriced at £10million. Shaquiri (and probably Nani) are better value. Irrespective of "packages" where Phillips will likely be demanding 50k a week (or so he should), he's overpriced at £10mil. That is why nobody is paying it.

No the £110k a week reference that in fact you questioned, I then cleared up that that was in relation to a sellers package of £21m cash benefit to United. They would have accepted a lower fee because they wanted him off the wage bill and so by accepting the lower fee they saved themselves over £17m in wages.

Its these complexities that you keep missing. The position of the seller affects the price for any buyer.

Think of it this way, lets say your house is worth £1m but you aren’t looking to sell it or move. Its in the perfect position for your commute, near family, friends, grew up inn the area, if you move you incur additional costs buying a new house, etc

Someone knocks on your door and says I want to buy your house. I’ll give you £1m. You aren’t going to accept that. You wil want a premium to overcome the costs as you are reluctant seller.

But if you were deciding to move jobs and go to a new area and you need to sell the house. If someone offered you a million you would accept that.

If Ramsey was to decide you know what Phillips isn’t going to fit into my team next year and we put him on the transfer list. Then this would probably be £5m mark.

But what actually has happened is, we see him as key to our hopes of automatic promotion. So if you want to sell him you will have to pay a premium and £10m is our price. If that’s too much and it puts you off, well as I said in my first post, good, that’s partly the point so feck off, we don’t want to sell him anyway, that’s why were are asking for a little more than what is probably the true market value.

Shaqiri and Nani are better value from a neutral perspective but they aren’t players that either Pulis wants to or can sign so in that sense they aren’t direct comparisons and aren’t really that relevant. The Shaqiri comparison is misleading. If he is such good value. Well then WBA can go ahead and try and buy him and not worry about Phillips.

If they cant well then they need to decide if Phillips is too much money at £10m. Then they need to take their money elsewhere and hope they find a better alternative for the £7m plus wages they were looking to spend.

Missing the complexities? I'm choosing not to bring them into the discussion because a) They are irrevelent and b)I'm not pedantic and trying to drift away from the point like you so clearly seem to enjoy doing.

Were you always the student who kept everyone waiting for lunch because you couldn't accept anyone else's point of view?

The difference in the valuations of these two players can basically be summed up by the fact that only one of the selling clubs is English.

This is why clubs buy players from abroad rather than pay the inflated prices expected in England.

IF Matt Phillips played for a club that had just been relegated from the German top division you probably wouldn't get as much as £3 million for him.

You literally haven't said anything there apart from a childish statement.

You haven't referenced what you are talking about. You've just spurted out generalist bullshit.

Your the type of bloke at a pub who will say the problem with the government\ council\school etc is this this and this. And you will then spurt out a bunch of illogical and unlinked points grounded in someone else's opinions you've read and then pass them off as your own moving around al over the place and confusing the point.

Difference is this time in a written forum, where specific points can be challenged and explained. You resort to, a first paragraph on your previous posts that literally says nothing and then a childish insult.

I have explained, Phillips asking price, why Nani and Shaqiri (players you brought up) may seem cheap and reasons behind this, and what that means for WBA, who if they think they can get better value elsewhere are welcome to do so because we are reluctant sellers.

I also explained in layman's terms for you the effect of being a reluctant or willing seller on pricing.

If you can give specific references to where I have got it wrong then do so. But don't bother putting out a literally pointless paragraph followed by a childish insult

Damage...Oh Peter. You have essentially described yourself in a sentence, and i'm almost positive this view is shared by everyone else here. Speaking of which, where's Swords?

Just to clear it up, Shaqiri is overprised at £12m. Only a Premier League club will be stupid/crazy enough to pay that amount. Bayern played a blinder selling him to Inter for £15m. Had a couple of good games in the last World Cup, but so did the likes of El Hadji Diouf before him, doesn't mean they're top class. I've seen him 20+ times for Bayern and he's not all that.

Which is infinitely better than Hoilett who never stops dribbling and never crosses!

Don't think you'll get many disagreements on Hoilett Swords.....

You're not fooled by Phillips are you?

Fooled by him? I'm not sure. I think he has an end product which, in my opinion, is all that matters in football. That's why I thought Taraabt, by and large, was sh*te for us after his NPC season.

I believe Phillps got more PL assists than anyone in 2015 (at one point he was top in Europe) and facts like those cannot be argued with. He's a good player but I doubt we'll get £10m for him. Maybe 8.

Maybe we've put this price on him, because we don't want him to leave at all!

You not looked far. Playing on the right for CR, Phillips was repeatedly going through and past defenders before crossing and shooting. I'd say he is definetely worth £10 million and we would be stupid to sell him for a penny less.

You sure? I'd certainly say he improved under CR, but I wouldn't go as far as saying he was "repeatedly going through and past defenders". His assists came predominantly from early crosses. Look at this video, I think he beat one player (in the prem). Everything else was an early cross without going around the player. Not that that is completely a criticism, but what you've said is false.

I wouldn't say one good half a season makes him worth £10mil in a side that finished bottom of the league. I'd value him around £8mil at a max. I'd be happy to accept £8mil.

How can that in any way be a criticism?! Its a very big compliment as far as I'm concerned. Isn't the role of an attacking footballer to deliver results?

Why do people like watching dribblers who run around with the ball all day but do sweet fukk all with it? Phillps' early crosses did more for the team in a few months than Junior Hoilett and Adel Taraabt managed between them in the last three years.

If you want dribblers, go to a nursing home Elnino. At QPR we want footballers
