What a buyer wants and what a buyer gets can be two different things. The reality is normally somewhere in between.
Who has the upper hand depends on the market at the time. We are a relegated side looking to reduce the wage bill and for that reason are not is a position to call the shots. Yes, we can hold out for £15 million for Austin, but can we afford not to sell him? Hopefully the answer is yes and he stays, but we will see.
I see £15m as very realistic in our situation. If we'd stayed up we'd be looking at maybe £20m but if someone is stupid enough to part with £32.5m for Benteke then Austin has to be value at 15. I guess we'll look a bit silly if no one offers it and we lose him for free and don't go up but I'd be amazed if nobody offers £15m. Whether it's a club he chooses to join is another matter. If it's a purely financial decision for him, which it's certainly not, it would be in his interest to go on a free.
Nope. Unless the buyer is able to give the seller enough dosh in order for them to sell. Then they won't own that commodity
