I agree with you as regards Macca + rosie but I am not so sure about Ince. he certainly has the talent but he comes across as a "I think I am better than I actually am type".
The thing is...none of us know what goes on behind the scenes. Players can soon fall out with managers and then they end up seeing out their contract farmed out on loan or not even making the bench.

If we were going to switch to a 4-3-3(or 4-2-3-1) to suit players like Ince, Snodgrass and Aluko, then it's a bad move, but if we're going to stick with 3-5-2(as we probably will), then he'd be a complete waste of a player.

He obviously wanted out and as it was Ehab who tried to convince him to stay, rather than Bruce, I don't think Bruce really gives a ****.

I also think there's more to this than just his ability as a footballer, hence Bruce not being bothered, there's been some issues while Ince was with us.

For the 10000000 time...

We signed him as a squad player to develop and use in the cup. Like Maguire.

We got knocked out the cups. All of them.

We were then left in a relegation dogfight. He isn't a relegation dogfight player. We didn't have the games to play him to watch him and trust him.
So he was no use.

If he becomes half decent do be it but just like losing Rosie some things are bad timing, bad luck. And just so. If we had been comfy mid table last season he would have had a chance to get on maybe and have a look. We weren't.

The end.
 
Upside - we ditch a player that doesn't want to play for us, for a tidy wedge.

Downside - we potentially strengthen one of our rivals for a success next season.

Decider - do we spend that wedge on a decent replacement? Or do we use it to pay down the debts?
 
So what if he's a ****? He's one of the best Championship players going. That's Macca, Rosy, Quinn and Ince gone now and we can expect Jelavic, N'Doye and Hernandez to go as well. I guess it doesn't matter anyway because Bruce will probably stick with 3-5-2 and Ince wouldn't have gotten game time.
 
I am with Chazz on this one, though I have to question the handling management wise of the whole affair. Never got the feeling Ince fitted in, so move on, at least we made a profit from the deal.

I'm more gutted by losing Quinn! This article is assuming Ince will do what he did last year! As the article says, Ince is a winger, our system doesn't accommodate wingers anyway! All our wingers play as defenders anyway!
Livermore was great in his loan season!
 
We have lost some good championship players early on - maybe the plan is to keep our very best players but the problem is those players are well capable of securing a deal In the prem.

Hope we don't get caught with our Trakkies down at the end of the window

When he did get a chance to play for us he gave minimal effort. I don't no why people think he's so great. Derby were top of the league when he signed and didn't make the playoffs with Ince in the team. I'm not saying he doesn't have talent but he won't be a great player until he works harder. Something I feel he will never do, as he thinks he is better than he really is. I want 11 players on the pitch who give everything, not a jumped up little **** using us as a stepping stone.

Whatever the right's and wrong's of the matter are, the bottom line is he and papa Ince were using city as a stepping stone, strange how he's now just signed a 4 year contract at Derby, would imagine he's got quite a pay rise (pop's will be pleased), he is a good player at this level but not a great one, just look at his nomadic existence prior to him arriving at city were where all the club's queuing up for him , I think he never fancied it at city from day one, even with game time hence the two year deal he was always going to jump ship at the first chance, it was just that we were the only deal on the table at the time. To me it looks like he and papa are more interested in what they can get out of the game rather than what they can put into it, Personally I think that Derby have bought themselves a whole load of trouble, if he does start tearing the championship up with his goal scoring, you can guarantee that he'll be knocking on the chairman's door demanding a new deal just come's across as somebody who's never happy with his lot.

My understanding Hull City received £5m for Tom Ince (not £4.7m as reported). They'll also get £750k if Derby are promoted in the next 4yrs.

So it could easily be £5.75m by the end of this season and it turns out we only paid £1.6m for Ince, there was another £700k in add-on's but they were based on appearances and retaining our Premier League status, so we didn't trigger them.
 
for me good riddance to jnr (and snr), £5m earned from a whole load of trouble, don`t slam the door on the way out.
