We're gonna need more than two viable subs this season...or we will regret it.

So I'm just going to go ahead and assume that Shaqiri thought he was signing for the other team in red and white stripes. How the heck did Stoke pull that off?

I'm not so sure Ron sees him as a failure.

Other than his amazing debut at Newcastle, I can't think of any great impression on a game or result so not sure what RK sees

It doesn't block youngsters if they are not ready for the step up yet. Also it's a squad game not just a team game. You have to look at our squad under Cortese. He did the only buy players better then the first team idea. Yes our first team was strong but we hardly had any back up at all.

Nor me, but he kept playing him for a while and despite my wealth of knowledge, I'd back Ron over me :)

Someone claiming to be itk on saintsweb, who was right about the Long deak has said Ogbonna will be done before end of the week. Also said we were in very much for Bolasie.

That would imply that we're not in for him any more?

As for Ogbonna, I know little about him as a player, but I do hope it doesn't mean that we've accepted defeat when it comes to Toby.

It would be an exciting signing but I'm not completely sure it makes any sense. He'd be very expensive, and wide forward is a position in which we're very well stocked with Mane, Tadic, Long, Rodriguez, JWP (sort of) and possibly Elia.

I was at Pardew's final press conference of the season for the Mirror. He said he'd spoken to the player and the owner and it would cost around £20m for anyone to lure him away, for what it's worth.

Interesting if true. I personally think it would make a lot of sense. In signing Mane and Elia (and Long, to an extent), Ron has shown himself to be much fonder of a direct, pacey winger/foward than Poch ever was. And from Bolasie's point of view, we would be a potential stepping stone between Palace and a top club (who he no doubt has ambitions to ultimately for - obviously whether he ever proves himself good enough for that level, only time will tell).
