Any news on Clasie? See on saintsweb someone saying his contact within the club has said we have agreed a £10 million fee for him
I still expect Clasie to sign. We are still trying to agree a fee for Elia.
Cant see any good reason for wasting time, effort and money on Ellia when we have more pressing issues
Is it pertinent to be concerned that the rumours of any incoming transfers has completely dried up?
Being Saints, that's precisely when they're most likely to happen.
As a £2m squad player, I'd take him. If we get in the EL group stage - and aim to compete in both domestic cup competitions - then it's pretty much a no brainer in my book.
I'm not worried having Elia and Ramirez as Euro Cup squad type players.
Seeing as Werder don't want him nearly as much we don't want Osvaldo, we should make the most of it. Let's just bring him on another loan.

The idea of building a squad to take us forward is to buy players who are at least as good as our first team or even better. That's progress
Buying failed loanee' won't help us progress and blocks the route for our youngsters to step up into the team
His loan deal will have expired today and no sign of a new one so I guess that avenue is a dead end now.
Not if we can negotiate the price down. However, the committee made it clear that they were not willing to pay the original pre-agreed loan buy-out fee.
Whilst I don't want to disagree with that, I do think it is far too idealistic.
I would love to have a squad as deep in quality as Chelsea or City. But given our standing in world football, and our finances, that simply is not possible. Even matching Spurs' squad depth is not possible for us yet. So unless you want us to finish 13th in the PL next season and struggle in all three cup competitions, then I don't see that we have much choice but to have the odd squad filler. And what better than players who we already know (like Elia and Gaston). Just so long as we're not splashing out big transfer fees for them, I don't have a problem.
I can't see how we can have it both ways. Compete well on all fronts, and only buy players who are good enough for a first team on a regular basis. No. Not yet.
Personally, I thought Elia was decent but had some chicken-in-headlights bad habits. For £2M he would have to be considered a decent signing. I would really like to get Djuricic back again though...
Djuricic looks like he would be great buy! Tho they want like 12 mil for or something equally unrealistic?
