Not yet, but there should be by page 97, I'm sure Hat will fill the space full of crap in between pretty quickly
So I'm happy enough with Maguire replacing Macca and we'll just have to wait and see how Lenihan goes with replacing Rosie. We don't get many of our youngsters loaned out to championship clubs. So he must be rated.
Yeah, I have high hopes for Maguire, I think he's an exciting prospect, but don't you think Rosie would have been a great help to Lenihan? He would have given him good advice and help to bring him on, he'd have helped a lot of our youth and for free. You can't buy that.
I don't disagree on Rosie. Be great to see him back in some capacity one day. But I've shed my tears and moved on. I just don't think he's a key player lost. Chester is the one I'd be massively sad to see go. But you couldn't begrudge him moving to a decent premier league team. Oh and Jelavic. Love the bloke.
Quinn also comfortably won the Not606 Player of the Season that season, scoring 36 points. Next best were Abdoulaye Faye and James Chester with 28 points. Elmo scored 20 points.
Good point - should have thought about that. Dawson got 34, followed by Brady on 26, and the 'unimportant' 'not that good' Quinn on 22. Quinn scored more points than almost all of our other central midfield players - Meyler, Huddlestone, Ramirez & Livermore put together
As I recall, the main reason Quinn gets into top 3s was for his effort. Like McShane and Rosie, always put in a shift. I'm not arguing this fact. However when you are paid that sort of money, every player should put in a shift. Ultimately putting in a shift every week wasn't enough to keep us up. Personally I'd have preferred us to let Quinn go last season and kept Boyd as the backup.
This speaks volumes, and I'm not surprised at all. But hey ho, he's just an 'average Championship player' who'll be 'easily replaced'. Madness.
Some of you seem to be confusing "good" with "popular". Reason he got so many points is because he runs his arse off. Not because he's a brilliantly gifted player. He does put all his effort in but ultimately he is not the player he was when we went up and we need better if we're going to have a good season. If he was the player some of you are convinced he is, there'd be a queue of lower PL teams to sign him. There isn't oddly enough. I've enjoyed watching him run around like a little ginger terrier, he's been paid handsomely for doing that and now he should go quietly.
How do you know there weren't Premier League clubs in for him? They may have, but he's opted for a 3 year contract with the option of a fourth. He's a good player, much more to his game than just 'working his arse off'. I do doubt whether some of the posters commenting on Quinn actually go to games and watch players. Best of luck to him, he's been a great player for us and we will definitely miss his craft, guile and endeavour.
I wanted Quinn to resign for us. He'd be an asset. We offered a two year deal. A club recently relegated from the PL and favourites to go back up. Quinn chose to go to a team who finished 19th in the Championship. With a Scotch prick as a manager, a poor one at that. On a 3 year deal. Bad choice Quinny. One you will regret.
Reading seem to be assembling something like a decent squad though. I think they'll be challenging next season.
Why are you and others pointing out that he was 'paid handsomely'? Was anyone suggesting he hadn't been paid? He wasn't paid as handsomely as the likes of Figueroa, Huddlestone, Ramirez, Ben Arfa, Livermore and others who have all been ****e. I wonder if this thread will be brought back up come May, after people have stated we need better. We'll see if we get better than Quinn, I for one would be astonished if we did. Likewise Rosenior.
Because it's relevant. He wasn't playing for us because he loves the East Riding, he was playing for us because at the time we gave him the best wages and the best chance of playing football. Just like his next club will. All this hand wringing over two players is slightly grating. If we don't get better than him or Rosie, we will be struggling this season. I don't get why you and some others keep harping back to our last promotion, neither of those players is the same player now, nor are they what we need if we want a serious and proper promotion push with a team capable of staying up and doing better. Ill say it again, if we can't get better than those two are currently, we will struggle.
