Price is only an issue if the player flops. No-ones really questioning whether Ronaldo or Suarez were worth the money, are they?
Famous quote is 'You never overspend on a quality players.' Look at suarez - he cost Barca £75m but look at the impact and what they've achieved. For £22m - I think we've done very well with Firmino. This signing is similar to Torres and Suarez IMO.
Indeed, and to be honest, I'm not really sure why that is. Obviously the English clubs (generally) have more money and so are more able to pay those prices/the German clubs can hold them more to ransom, but the market is pretty open and you would think that it would standardise at some point.
Ronaldo and Suarez got better and better during their second season. The first season for them was not brilliant. Price do put pressure on the player as well.
Fair enough havent watched much of Atlectico just whenever I have seen him play never really stood out.
It's a great league, full of fans, money and most importantly, quality. Good quality young players are in abundance in Germany and they have a great environment in which to develop in. We really need to be looking at players in Germany in far more detail.
I disagree with this. if Ozil had cost 20m or Bale had cost 25m or di maria 25m, no one would be saying their flops and people would probably be raving about them (their stats are all solid and good and better than most). However they cost 42m, 65m and 80odd m and they get questioned every single match where they aren't seen to be changing games. Likewise Coutinho who is a fantastic player and contributes a lot more to the game than just assists and goals has a paltry return on these key stats. However he only cost 8m so he always gets a free ride. This more so from the media than anyone else. Once the media start getting on your back that it just makes it all the more harder for any player. Look at Lallana, no one is saying he is a bad player, but at 25m you expect him to be one of your best players and a game changer. He isn't and as a result half of your fan base don't like him
they always say ****e like that before clubs sell the player. its so we dont get shafted for silly prices as they know we have cash to spend, not sure how that works mind as we pay silly prices regardless
If Chelsea want sterling are there any players that would want in return? Zouma looks a player and we're rumours of him going although not sure how true that is.
Don't think Zouma would leave - but he is quality. Loftus Reuben Cheek is talented also. Rumours that Oscar is no longer wanted, same with Cuadrado.
I would be livid if Zouma and Loftus Cheek leave. Both look quality. Not bothered if Oscar went. He's so overrated by people cause he scores a worldy here and there. Cuadrado whilst never been given a proper chance just looks so lightweight. Wasn't bothered by his purchase and i certainly wont be shedding any tears if he was to go.
Plenty of talk about attackers and midfielders but we've leaked around 100 league goals in the last 2 seasons so I hope the club buy some proven quality for our defence. Paying £3m for Gomez only to reportedly be putting him on loan is a waste of money, the need for established players is greater than waiting/hoping for promising youngsters to make the grade.
