The two Swindon players were both being watched by PL clubs so I don't think you can be so dismissive as to suggest 'Hardly Headline'. The fact Luongo came through the Spurs academy side and both players were key in getting Swindon to the play off final.
Just because a player is from Swindon, it doesn't mean he's not a good player, Massimo Luongo looks excellent business. He was a Spurs academy two years ago, he's already played in the Championship on loan at Ipswich and he's a full Australian international(he won player of the tournament at the 2015 Asia Cup).
I know all about Luongo, don't worry. He will likely be a very good player for them, but again, the comment that 'all other Championship clubs' are doing business while we're sitting on our hands is far from the truth.
In fact I've already said we should try and be a bit more active since our rivals have signed a couple of players, but to suggest the entire league is active and we're doing nothing is a bit off the mark
The fact is, we need to shift a few before we go shopping, hopefully we'll see some movement on the strikers shorty and things will get going.
Thought QPR were massively in FFP ****? What implications does that bring? A fine? Points deduction? Transfer ban?
Agreed. Their two early signings mean their whole teams will gel far better and those pair are destined for first and second. We're in huge danger of finishing 24th unless we sign someone really quick. Looks like we're already out of the auto promotion race anyway.
You assume offers will be made for all 3 of our main strikers. If no offers come in they will be championship players whether either party like it or not... Jelly has dodgy knees, Hernandez has been quite a flop so far, and Ndoye went off the boil once the adrenaline wore off. I dont see us being able to ship all three out, unless we're desperate enough to pay a big chunk of their wages on a loan deal, which seems pretty dumb considering we'd have to replace them...
Aye, but fortunately, outside of our not606 bubble, Hernandez will still have quite a strong reputation. My taxi driver sources tell me he has issues with the cold. Looks good layered up in training, not so good when he strips up. Also he spent a lot of time alone in his hotel room, probably talking to his hair pieces. I wouldn't be too despondent if he stuck around though. He could tear the championship a new one. The manager just needs to find a way to motivate him. That's his job.
No need to be so clinical and think you can score points on me as if your some sort of smart arse know all mate. I'm sure there are a lot more posters on here that know a **** load more than you as well.
Not to motivate him but to supply him, he's clearly not a big target man who will beat giant defenders to high long balls and he's not a tank who can power his way through a defence. When you watch him he's always looking to play off the shoulder but the ball never arrives. Almost his entire time here he's spent dropping back and playing with his back to goal which clearly just isn't his game. He missed a few sitters but I'd put that down to poor confidence, the lad clearly has good technical ability when he doesn't fall to bits. I do genuinely think a good run of games in a more expansive style then we'd have been laughing.
and from that it seems your assuming that there will be no bids, i suspect that we will be taking a hit on certainly hernandez and jella in order to move them on, free up wages and get rid of unhapy campers, but time will tell
That too. I've certainly seen enough in the little things he does to know there's a player in there. If we're serious about going straight back up then imo we should pull out all the stops to keep at least one of our main strikers. Will cost a hell of a lot to sign up an all new promotion chasing front line.
