Anyone watching it? Christ what a course, magnificent. And its making the pro's look like amateurs. Tiger finished 16 over after two rounds and missed the cut.
It is a stunning course. The US Open always aims to make the winner finish level par, but it does make me wonder what the club golfers do for the rest of the year! There are only certain things that can be changed to make this course easier.
I think in time it will be a good course but the putting surfaces are not good enough to hold a tournament like this at the moment.
Early starters shouldn't get an advantage and that seems to be what happens so far there, the greens seem to get less noticeably less predictable as the day goes on. It is an exciting tournament this year though with a lot of players in with a shout after the cut. A lot of hoo-ha over Tiger Woods but I don't think he has gone that far downhill, might have just had a bad weekend at the office, Fowler was the same and he is ultra-consistent. Could be a shock or first time winner of this I reckon, out of the big guns at the top I have been impressed with how Johnson has handled the course with his wedge and put finishing helped by mammoth drives.
I have a golfing mad female relative who is the sort who sniffs about footballers making so much money. Tiger Woods has just had a ****e year in which he achieved nothing but still earnt 36million.
A lot of footballer's earnings are from sponsorship. But how many successful footballer's who won things made as much last year as Woods who won zilch? Then there tennis players who have won **** all who are worth £100million and more because they look shaggable (I am talking about female ones). There was a model in the paper the other week, so well known, ?I can't even recall her name, who has made over £100million for sasayhing up and down a stage and being a clothes hanger. Yet the salaries of successful footballer's playing in the world's most popular, highly watched sport who generate billions are the ones who always attract outrage.
Had a bet on Jason Day to win it at 28/1 as he is well placed, also it would be a big story as he collapsed yesterday after suffering an attack of vertigo, did Stenson 25/1 also, seemed like too big odds given his current standing and a saver on Johnson at 5/1
Woods isn't the best example as he has video game franchises, tie ins with Nike going back many years, the vast majority of golfers at the top level have nothing like that though Woods star is falling and presumably his earning power with it, no more Tiger Woods golf on consoles etc. Spieth/Rory will be the ones earning the top dollar with sponsorship in future years
It was quite worrying watching him finish, kudos for the guy to play that sand shot but hopefully he's OK, apparently he's had scans and tests but they don't know why it happens and it's not the first time.. I'm rooting for Jason
was cheering on Westwood until he imploded on the 18th, if that guy could putt he would already have a **** load of majors under his belt
They are saying vertigo but I'm not sure myself, always thought vertigo was something to do with heights but probably only because Professor Calculus had it in the the TinTin books and seemed to get a bit dizzy climbing up pyramids and suchlike!
vertigo i believe is something to do with the ear canals, which effects the balance, although on this forum i`m sure we have an expert who can give a more definitive answer, lets be fair there seems to be an expert in most things on here
