Now, you've looked at it from a very basic viewpoint. That was a mistake. Sports personalities look to generate income from their public profile and popularity which is hard to quantify. One way that they can put a price on their "worth" is by presenting sponsors with statistics on how much interest the public has in them ie Twitter followers, Wikipedia hits etc.You do, you get 10% commission, 10% of the nothing![]()
This evening Steve Harkness's Wikipedia page will benefit from a number of hits as a result of me mentioning his name on this forum. When his booking agent is next contacted about Steve presenting an award at a local supermarket's end of year staff recognition barbecue he will be able to negotiate a higher appearance fee off the back of statistics I have helped manipulate.
