In for Clyne again. He's a unit but not all that technically.

If montoya and Clyne cost the same I'd go for Clyne on the basis it annoys Southampton fans

    Loan deal is imperative. <ok>

I like Clyne - I think he's a good all-round full back but I do question him defensively, but that's only because he's protected by a top class midfield so he hasn't been exposed as much to test his true ability.

    I think £11m isn't too bad.

But .. I do think there are better full backs out there. Sakai of Stuttgart is a really classy fullback who can play on both flanks. However, De Scigilio is the one for me - potential world class and apparently Milan need to sell.

According to the German media, it expired yesterday.

Not a huge fan of Höwedes to be honest. He's ok, but not exceptional. Though he would improve our defence.

    Not necessarily no.

Gerard will in effect replace Atsu. So the need for another wide man is still there, we'll play the long game with Levy though.

    Yep, that's a real shame.

He's not a spectacular defender but that's the beauty of his game. He does the basics to such a high level.

Versatile - can be play RCB, CM, RB, LB and DM, all at a high level.

Most importantly, he's a leader, captain, organiser and his style would compliment Sakho's perfectly.

For a player who has played a lot of top level football, in a good league, in the CL and at international level - think he was a starter at the world cup - all for £12m.

Really can't understand why there aren't more takers.

Not sure about him really. He's a good defender but he's a bit like Merts in that he's quite slow (imo). He would probably fit our system at Chelsea where we protect the slow defenders but have good competent defenders but if you want to play high i'm not sure he is your man

Yeah, he's slow but not that slow. He would act as the sweeper, and cover Sakho who is naturally more aggressive.

He would be perfect as the CB in a back 3 also.

I thought that was Skrtel? <whistle>

He did start at the world cup, but at LB. He did a job.

i am of the opinion we need to look at a more holistic view and i am not sure the club is doing that.

If you pack your team with forward options like say clyne whos a runner and moreno who's god knows what. then imagine kovacic as deep lying playmaker. henderson and milner at cm and coutinho at acm.. like...... in that case the two cbs would have to be mobile and able to screen.

lovern for example is best step up rather than retreating as he's that type of player and you need a smart man behind that sweeping up. can't play that behind the midfeild and full backs i've just listed!

i just don't know right now what format of team this purchasing thus far suggests.

    ok... fair enough.

so your left side in then baines and this guy and you want lennon and coleman on the right.

is it then 4-2-3-1 or what? Mccarthy, barkley and barry in the centre? Lukaku up front?

will you sell stones or will it be stone and jagielka at theb back?

I think we'll manage to hold onto Stones for another season, but he progresses at the same rate next year, he'll be off next summer I'm afraid.

    To a Championship team?

Don't worry, if Everton match their "progress" from last season too you'll be there before him <ok>

No one knows what Rodgers's style, identity, formation is so God only knows the type of players we need.

I'm just guessing that Rodgers wants versatile players who can a bit of everything...?

Are you joking? Rodger's style and identity is one of the most obvious in the league, probably only second to Mourinho's "foul, bus, and spend" philosophy
