sure... just read what i just posted above.

nothing at all wrong with that if it does a job of taking 5/10 goals a season off the against tally.

    especially at full back...

as a striker (name any of ours) its a big problem

Agree with what you are saying MITO. No criticism at all. You cannot have a team of flanagans and expect to win. Just people misinterpret your average tag for what other people would call it. I prefer the word solid personally. I guess there are also different interpretations as do you expect your defenders to be special in attack or solid in defence. I suspect if Moreno was scoring 10 a season (showing great attacking qualities) whilst not being able to defend for toffee, does that still count as a special player?

For me personally i prefer my defenders to be solid which for me actually means they are not average. Would someone like Nesta or Maldini at CB count as #average or special because they didn't contribute as much in attack/goals?

I'm not counting any chickens, but I'm hoping all these free-ish / experienced players are setting us up to splash the cash on a top name or two. If they'll come at least

I'm not so sure, I'm starting to get the feeling that Milner is our answer to the Midfield ProblemTM
And I'm guessing Ings is out solution until Sturridge returns...

I'm hoping I'm wrong and we're actually still in for the likes of Benzema, Higuain, Pjanic, Lacazette etc (if they'd even join us)

Most prem players are above average. Average would suggest middle which if we're talking pro football means lower champ and upper league 1 has the average footballers.

Prem footballers are all above average in that case otherwise what you are saying is that 90% of players playing in our country professionally are below average which defeats the whole point of the word average.

ok so... then fine i accept your point however i am talking premier league really <ok>

Flanagan is an average prem player. thats a huge compliment in my book. i call allen the same. Yes i used championship like jay spearing when i worte it fair enough but i really am saying average = average prem player.

average = the majority in prem
good = top half but not top 6
very good = top 6 quality
top player = top 2/3 clubs quality
Worldies = anyone playing for LFC <diva> or of course barca

medicore is players down aorund the bottom clubs not getting a game and showing they aint up to it.

So Flanno is a top player going by your ratings because he was a regular for a top 2 club last year in his only full season as a regular. Glad we cleared that one up <ok>

no you weren't you were twisting it to suit yourself.

    1. LFC are not a top 2 club, have not been since 1991.

    2. anyone with a modicum of footballing knowledge would see i'm being generous to flanagan cos he plays for us. if you want a new cult hero fine but flanagan is just average.

We could have Shaqiri for half the price of Lallana.

Bit we finished 2nd last year... If finishing 2nd doesn't make you the 2nd best club in the country then might as well forget playing 38 games a year.

There's a difference between 'average' and doing the basics extremely well. Arbeloa is far from average.

Unspectacular? - Yes. But he's a damn good defender.

Have you been following the thread Jimmy. First Biscan now you! I've said he's a good defender. I hope you also note that i was MITOs rating. MITO scale of player would put Arbeloa in the average category

If you want to take MITO's point in it's most literal sense, then you have a point.

But Flanno was garbage last season, as was most of our team bar the attack which literally carried our team. Flanno, along with Skrtel and Gerrard were bigged up by most fans off the back of the real work done by the attack.
