Lyon president claims Liverpool would not be able to sign Alexandre Lacazette

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas claims Liverpool will have no chance of luring prolific striker Alexandre Lacazette to Anfield this summer.
Responding to a story posted by the Twitter account @OL_Plus - via footmercato.com - Aulas categorically denied reports that Lacazette is heading to Liverpool.
"Your information is trash," the Lyon president wrote, according to ESPN. "Liverpool have never called, and as they are not playing in the Champions League, they don't have the money, nor would they be able to interest him."
GiveMeSport: Is Raheem worth the Sterling? in 4
Aulas' response suggests Lacazette is available this summer, but only if a club competing in next season's Champions League cough up enough money.

Micah Richards is available on a free this summer, would anyone want him at LFC. He is apparently a big mate of Balotelli.....I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing!

Liverpool FC boss Brendan Rodgers holds 'positive' talks with club chairman Tom Werner

FSG figurehead will also be involved in attempt to seal James Milner Anfield switch

    • Brendan Rodgers has today held “positive” talks with Liverpool chairman Tom Werner as part of the club's end-of-season review.
Rodgers met with Werner and Fenway Sports Group executive Mike Gordon in Liverpool city centre to assess a disappointing campaign with the Reds having failed to win silverware or qualification to the Champions League.
The talks are believed to have been progressive, with both parties having agreed to move forward together.
It would therefore confirm the long-held belief there is no appetite for FSG to change manager despite Rodgers commenting after the dire 6-1 defeat to Stoke City on the final day of the campaign that “if the owners want me to go, then I go”.
      ADVERTISING
Rodgers was expected to be quizzed on where the season went wrong, what mistakes were made, his opinion of the transfer committee and his plans for the future.
Werner arrived in Merseyside on Monday night, with completing a free transfer deal for chief summer target James Milner also high on his agenda.
      Read more:

Liverpool have already held advanced talks with the 29-year-old, whose contract at Manchester City expires at the end of the month, and are believed to have offered a deal in the region of £150,000 a week.
And while City are making late efforts to persuade Milner to stay, the player has been reluctant to commit his long-term future over fears of a lack of playing time, with Liverpool a more likely opportunity for more regular football in his preferred central role.
Arsenal are among several other clubs interesting in Milner but Reds chiefs want to tie up the deal in the next few days, with the player involved in England's friendly against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier versus Slovenia.
Confident of capturing Milner, Liverpool will then turn their attention to Danny Ings, another player out of contract in the summer.
Ings, also being tracked by Tottenham Hotspur, is understood to prefer a move to Anfield, but aged just 22 the Burnley striker would command a fee set by a tribunal, despite being available on a free transfer.
Liverpool must improve their bid for Southampton full-back Nathaniel Clyne having had a £10m offer rejected, while they are pondering an approach to Aston Villa over Belgian forward Christian Benteke.

Carragher told his followers on Kicca: “The news of the likely arrival of James Milner at Liverpool throws up a few questions, I think it’s a very good signing a free transfer who can play in a few positions and got great experience.

Brendan Rodgers will have spoken to him about where he sees him fitting in but he’s very similar to Jordan Henderson and I have no doubt one reason he’s joining is to play in a more central role rather than out wide.

“Could Milner play a holding role? Maybe but I don’t think that’s what suits him. His main strength is his engine which could suit him and Jordan to both play alongside a holding midfielder (Can?) but his best position is tucked in from the right in a central role which is also Jordan Henderson’s so it’ll be interesting how those two fit into next year’s midfield set up.

“Also the fact that Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t confirm Jordan Henderson as this season’s captain even though he was captain in Gerrard’s absence last season makes me think him and Milner could be competing for the armband! Was that another thing that enticed Milner to join?

“A few thoughts on the subject but all in all I think it’s a good signing and am glad he’ll be wearing the red of LFC hopefully when it’s confirmed in the next week or so.”

Milner started in six of Man City’s eight Champions League games this season and he is said to have been offered around £165,000 per week to stay at the Etihad, with a Liverpool deal worth around £150,000 a week.

Carra also said Lovren was a great defender and leader.

Can is not a holding midfielder - he's far better suited to playing as a CM. which means you have to drop either Can or Hendo to accommodate Milner.

And I'm guessing Rodgers will play 4-2-3-1 which means you cannot play 2 of Milner, Can or Hendo together in the middle 2 because none can play the role of DM to the level we badly require.

A lot of supposition in this.

Is Loftus cheek or matic just a holding cm?

Why is can not.. cos you say he'd be wasted playing it? Yet alonso was a fabulous one.

    Same for many things

I dont think Rodgers will play 4231. I think he only used it this season as a back to basics move. Its the new 442.

Rodgers will want some variation on a 433.
