If we are going to take punt or gamble with another striker DONE(sheff.utd), HENDERSON(Rochdale), WILLIAMS(Swindon) maybe worth a try.
if we can get good money for anyone leaving then let them leave... we need to rebuild anyways and don't want mercenaries.
There lay's the first problem. We wont get good money. I am just hoping that the mercenaries go. Hernandez and N'Doye leaving will do. Not sure if any PL will take a punt on Jelavic like.
You did this with Eoin Doyle last season, they're just one hit wonders who did well at lower league level. Matty Done managed 7 in 14 which is decent, but he's more of a wide forward than an out and out striker, more like Elliot for us. Henderson's goalscoring record before last season was piss poor, Williams wasn't much better although he's had a couple of decent seasons in the past. He's just been released by Swindon, but I saw that he went on loan to Yeovil in their Championship season and failed miserably. We need to be buying Championship goalscorers (that aren't Daryl Murphy), we're going to have to splash some cash to get one that's reliable but if we want out of this league at the first attempt, we're going to have to go for it.
Noticed when looking at league one scorers records all inconsistent never done it season after season , could beckford do it??? Everybodys looking elsewhere, could any of our young strikers do it? If not see what we can get in trade for jelavic, hernandez or n'doye Think watford would take there ndoye off us for a few million and there young 18 goal striker to us on a season loan as part pf the deal?
I'd be more than happy with Beckford. He's a bit of a tool but free - unless he's just signed - and has done it at multiple levels including ours and the one above.
I wouldn't mind Igor Vetokele from Charlton, he's got a pretty good record and at 23, he's got a long way to go.
McShane's replacement? Sebastien Dewaest linked with move to Tigers please log in to view this image HULL City have reportedly shown their interest in Charleroi defender Sebastien Dewaest, according to press excerpts in his native Belgium. The 24-year-old centre-back has enjoyed a profitable season with the Belgian Pro League outfit, and has made 40 appearances this campaign, scoring three goals. The Tigers may have to fend off 2013-14 champions Anderlecht for Dewaest's signature, according to walfoot.be and La Dernière Heure, with the giants keen to utilise their close relationship with his agent, Mogi Bayat. Priced at £1.7m, Dewaest could be in reach for Hull City given their expected limited purchases in the Championship next season. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tory-26618404-detail/story.html#ixzz3bud3q44A
Which one is he in the pic? It would normally say pictured above right or left. Our left is a bit Milner, right reminds me of someone else but cant think who. Edit - got it, bit like a young, slimline Mido.
There are loads of good Championship strikers. Most teams have one. (Brackets are their league goals last season) Birmingham - Donaldson (15) Blackburn - Rhodes (21), Gestede (20) Bolton - Le Fondre (8) Brentford - Gray (16) Bristol - Wilbraham (18) Cardiff - Jones (13) Charlton - Vetokele (11) Derby - Martin (18) Fulham - McCormack (17) Huddersfield - Wells (11) Ipswich - Murphy (27) Leeds - Antenucci (10) Middlesbrough - Bamford (17) MK Plastics - Grigg (20) Nottingham - Assombalonga (15) Preston - Garner (26), Beckford (12) Reading - Pogrebnyak (8) Rotherham - Derbyshire (9) Sheff Wed - Nuhiu (8) Wolves - Dicko (14), Sako (15) (Brighton left out because they didn't have one.)
I said a few weeks back I'd take a hungry ALF with something to prove. Put him alongside a pacey poacher, a la Beckford, and that's promotion right there.
Promising, but if Anderlecht are interested then he'll no doubt go there, they'll be in Europe next season.
