Do you think we could nick him back? A cheeky bid and we could pair him with Ledley in the middle f the park! Barcelona plan to make a £50m-plus bid for 24-year-old Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the summer despite their transfer embargo. (Sun - subscription only)
I'm sure Blackburn would sell us back Rudy at a knockdown price too. Just a good winger needed once those 3 are on board.
remember everyone we sold him for 10% of that, probably without a percentage of the next transfer too
Not probably, definitely. Interesting that the Swans are branching out with their junior recruiting. Wonder what has take them so long. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/140m-worth-talent-swansea-city-9314566
According to WoL we are looking at Dwight Gayle and Daryl Murphy. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...rdiff-city-transfer-rumours-bluebirds-9336863 http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/.../cardiff-city-transfer-news-bluebirds-9330490 £6m for Gayle and Murphy's 32 years old. They're having a giraffe!!!!!
The cynic in me thinks someone is releasing stories about £6m strikers rather than Chesterfield utility players in a desperate attempt to drum up some ST interest.
We have / had proven goalscorers. What we don't have is a gameplan and the midfield to provide the ammo. Will Gayle /Murphy do any better than Doyle / KWJ / ALF / Kiko / etc, etc, playing the same style and midfield that we have for the last 4 months (or longer) of the last season?
Wouldn't say no to a Daryl Murphy type, but you are correct remote, midfield is definitely the key. We need players in the middle with strength and skill combined if possible, not out and out one way or the other like Gunnar and Whitts. Noone and Kennedy out wide can be tricky but get knocked off the ball too easily. Got a feeling that Pilks could be very influential next season if he can be kept uninjured and fit. Need some pace through the middle though - at the moment we're pedestrian at best.
My worry with Murphy is that Ipswich have used him to play an effective hoof ball system this season. I wonder why has Slade supposedly identified him as his key signing......? I suppose it would solve strengthening the midfield though
And today's WoL Jackanory: - http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/.../cardiff-city-transfer-news-bluebirds-9344581 Why would we want 2 more centre backs unless Manga and Connolly are going?
Loan signings? Astute if they want to save money but when was the last time we relied on loan signings before the start of the season? I recall DJ had to rely on mainly loan signings in his last year as manager. Please correct me if I am wrong, maybe the heat is getting to me.
with the amount of loan signings we seem to be making from everton it feels like we're a feeder club for them to me
I know that these are all newspaper deals and I am not privy to the financial details if they do actually happen but I always get annoyed that we seem to pay top fees for players when there are lots of equally talented players being released by their clubs. Players who we have seen do a job in the championship and have been promoted with Hull and QPR for instance. I guess the question is why they are being released, but our highly experienced management team should be able to make judgments on that.
I'd have thought it was the other way around. Haven't noticed many of ours going their way. Said before I don't like loan signings in principle. It just provides experience for the loanees and a shop window for their future which usually won't be with us. Past experience has shown that with very few exceptions like Gary O'Neill and Eddie Newton, they're generally a waste of time. It seems to be the first option for cash strapped clubs (which we are not in truth) rather than an attempt to build anything for the future.
The point is will slade have enough about him that good players will want to play for him, he is a likable chap but there are so many better managers in the championship and lower down that his pulling power is very low....Tan is not helping by spending more time with his other clubs and should be putting all his time and effort making cardiff better....
According to Tucker the Ugly Fu**er: - http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-fc-linked-shock-swoop-9362027 But what does he know? Would Marshie go to Liverpool as understudy to Mignolet and bench warm? And would the club want him to go if Moore is headed from Leeds?
If there are any legs in this story then it must be mighty tempting for Marshall to see if he could get some decent PL football time. Simon Moore is not a good enough no 1. If Marshall goes, a top keeper with PL experience is a must.
Marshall would have a very real chance of being Liverpool's number 1. There is little doubt this could very well be his only chance to realistically compete for a first team place at a club of that size. He should take the chance and we should let him imo. I do think he's worth a little bit more than the £5m mentioned but IF we sell and the money is spent on the squad we could add a lot of quality Championship players if it's spent properly.
