Wow, two crazy decisions in the space of a few days. Rosenior and McShane leaving means we have lost two of our current longest serving players who always put in 110% whenever they played, Steve Bruce has once again picked his son over a fan favourite, we need a new chant...

**** OFF ALEX BRUCE, **** OFF ALEX BRUCE, WE JUST DON'T THINK YOU UNDERSTAND, BRING BACK PAUL MCSHANE, BRING BACK PAUL MCSHANE OR YOU'LL HAVE A ****ING RIOT ON YOUR HANDS!!!

i like McShane but i don't get why people are hating Alex Bruce so much , he is similar in ability and in heart , certainly Macca and Bruce are players you would want when the weaker minded are losing their form and not staying "classy" .
Last season ive loved so many of Alex Bruces no holds barred tackles , wrongly penalised sometimes too .

Nice politics with a small p. Alex Bruce stays implying, if Rosie and Quinn had signed they'd have been ok as well. Offer Quinn a new deal so it means he is the one who refuses it if he does.

Paul McShane will always be a City legend. The way he finished the game against Manchester United shows the difference between him and Alex Bruce. Some team, and their supporters are going to be very lucky.

I think people are over reacting a little because they are fond of Mcshane and Rosenior, from a purely footballing point of view these are logical decisions, we have so much cover at centre back it makes sense to release the one that's out of contract, Rosenior has barely played for two years and is on a decent wage, he can be replaced by a much younger, cheaper reserve full back.

I like them both and would have preferred them to stay but unfortunately that's just how football goes sometimes.

Another one perfectly adequate for the Championship and even played at a level above that this season. If we had stayed up then i'd have had no problems with releasing both Macca and Rosy but now we've come down it's an absolute bizarre decision.

I'm unsure on the direction we're taking here. I mean, if we replace them, the players we replace them with are going to cost us, surely? Either that, or they don't get replaced at all, which would be even more worrying.

Let's hope Quinn signs that contract.

The only difference between the two is their name, Alex is always going to get an unfair ride with the fans regardless of the situation.

You don't need 6 centre backs in the Championship, the one out of contract was always going to be the one to go.

I do agree with you, although when we inevitably field the 3-5-2 next season, some would argue we would need 6.

Chester will obviously attract interest from the Premiership and Davies is massively out of favour. I'd have thought it would've been an easy decision to offer Mcshane a new contract. Particularly as he's been a member of the starting XI in recent months.

No that doesn't make sense at all. Bruce would have been out of contract but he was offered a new one. The defender that Bruce thinks is better didn't get one.

Getting a fullback cheaper than Rosenior but of similar ability will be nigh on impossible.

The one positive thing to take from all of this is that we are obviously not planning on selling any of our current centre backs, although I'm sure if a ridiculous offer came in we'd have to let them go.

Think he means because Alex goes off with a knock every bloody week and he's always fine the week after. McShane only goes off when he's seriously injured.

    Just thinking the same.

I am gutted about Rosenior and McShane.

Remember McShane was happy to disrupt the squad and throw a tantrum when he didn't get his own way, which was around the time new contracts were getting handed out, its only been the last few months of the season that he sorted himself out and established himself in the team.

Great post. Bruce has been excellent. But we desperately need a McShane.
