Cheers Fabio. Was alarmed with the drift but travelled beautifully for Andy Lynch all the way, took him into the race on her own and he steered her home well round the sharp last bend there.
Is there any logical reason whatsoever not to stick a fair few quid on Novak to win the French? Rafa is at 80% of his best which could probably be enough on his beloved clay in Paris against anyone bar Novak? Andy Murray battered him 2 weeks ago and it's his least favoured surface. Obviously we'll not get rich lumping on 10/11 shots but currently Djokovic seems on another level to the rest of the Big 3? I make him closer to a 4/6 shot... Thoughts?
It's one I've stayed away from to be honest. I'm a big tennis fan and love a bet on it too but this French Open is a tough one to call. My one betting rule in tennis has always been to never back against Nadal on clay, I'm sticking with that. He's not been himself but he's a totally different beast when he turns up at Roland Garros, he'll still be a hard man to beat over 5 sets on the dirt.
The 8:00 at Ballinrobe is the last race I've had a bet in and as with the previous two races I've backed two. He is Top Class as last leg of Paul Townend Patent, the other two did **** all and got reverse forecast and ew single with Borussia. No prices available when I put them on so SP it is
I'm usually the same but I think French Open no. 10 is beyond him, this year anyway. Id a been more wary of him if he was scheduled to meet Novak in the Final but its the QFs and if you're going to get Rafa beat its probably going to be easier doing so earlier.
It's actually a shame it's worked out that way, you want to see those sort of matches as a final, it's too early in the tournament for those 2 to be playing. Tell you what though, if they go at it for 5 sets and go on for hours, Andy Murray could be waiting there to pick up the pieces in the semi final. It still wouldn't be easy but the form Murray has shown on clay this year it could just give him that bit more belief.
True. Andy was incredible in Rome against Rafa in the final. But in saying that David Ferrer wont be easy for him in the QFs and I'd even nearly have Ferrer fav over him, due to the surface but its a tight one that.
Paul Townend done nothing for me but two nice ew's in Borussia and Sue and Isi turns a profit. Bout time I contributed somat to the forum. You guys are in cracking form.
When England had New Zealand 206 for 9, why did they insist on sticking with Ben Stokes bowling bouncers and Stuart Broad bowling short and wide? Had they had a bet on New Zealand to score 220 runs or more? Why did Alistair Cook have fields set to save runs when the two rabbits were looking at surviving ten overs not scoring 130 plus runs? He had five slips and no gully and the ball flies through the gap and goes for four. Cook does not appear to have the ruthless streak that is needed to be a successful captain in the long term. Forget the bowlers’ averages, it is a team sport and you need ten wickets to win. He should have just brought James Anderson on to bowl full and straight at the stumps. Instead he got lucky as Trent Boult tried to flick one over the slips and found Moeen Ali in the deep. Easiest Man of the Match decision ever: 92 in the first innings, 101 in the second innings, get the key batsman’s wicket and the opposing captain next ball. Geoffrey Boycott’s mother could have picked that one... Who said Test cricket was dead? Five entertaining days play and a full house to see the climax.
Bit churlish those comments QM. We did win after all. The modern game is very different. Corey Anderson slogging when he's trying to save a test match on the last afternoon for example. I take issue with just surrounding the bat too. By all means have some close fielders to put pressure on the lower order but you're just as likely to get a wicket caught at cover or mid off. Good win all in all against a decent kiwi side and played in a fine spirit too.
Taking the emotion and analysis out of it- what a fantastic advert for Test Match credit. 5 days of too and fro, digging deep when both sides were on the ropes, and edging a victory with just enough time to spare. When it's done properly, it is unrivalled drama. Very well done all you winners today. Cartmel looks an interesting track- is that like the Chester of the jumps scene?!
