Spurs have DeAndre Yedlin, Kyle Walker and Eric Dier who can play RB.

Spurs have Christian Erikson, Nadir Bentaleb, Etiene Capoue, Paulinho, Moussa Dembele, Ryan Mason and Stambouli who can play CM.

<whistle>

Am I the only one who would really like Victor to get a new contract this summer? 2 years left I believe? If he improves again like he has since being here clubs will certainly be interested n if he's only got a year left by that point we won't have any power or be able to command a fee we want.

Victor is yet another player who has sounded off about moving on<steam> Doubt he'd sign another now, but I hope we make him stay at least next season.

I know he has which is another reason for trying to get him to sign, even if we promise that if he signs this Summer he can move next Summer, providing a decent offer comes in, I don't want to have to sell him for roughly what he paid due to there being a year left on his contract when he could be twice the player by then (since we bought him).

If Wanyama/Mane has another season as good as the last, if someone like Tadic can keep his form over a full season then they will be being hounded by the bigger clubs, and most likely will push to leave. It is just football. The only hope Saints have to break the mould (aside from blowing millions on transfers like City/Chelsea did) is to continue to produce great talents through the academy and have solid recruitment. Unfortunately this is a massive long shot in the long run of ever being able to regularly break into the top 6.

The awards didn't do much for Tw*tbeard staying loyal last season though when huge bundles of cash are waved in front of him so don't expect anything from players anymore

Be careful not to tar every player with the same brush, loyalty is a rare commodity we know, but it does still exist. Everyone has the right to improve their lot, a lot have learned the hard way, it doesn't always work out, it is a gamble with their careers that they have to take.

There's always a chance some players might look at the failings of Twattington, Shaw, Lovren et al having left and thought "hold on, I have it pretty good here". Not a massive motivator it would seem against ££££ being waved, but perhaps it may have registered with one or two?

*clutches at more straws*....

What makes you think you are the only one? There is a massive Victor sized Vic Fan Club* on this forum.

Athletico Madrid are in a similar (ish) position. They do well, get raided and have to rebuild.

Yeah like I said to SaintDon earlier I didn't word that the best, what I meant really was that did everyone realise he only has 2 years left and that it should be a priority for us imo.

Not like we have previous for promising to let a player go and then reneging:rolleyes: Morgan would tell him to get such a promise written in blood, on tape, and chiselled onto the side of St Mary's. :) I think our position has improved...perhaps our best players won't rush to extend their contracts, but will certainly not be allowed to just waltz off (a la Lovren).

Whilst I agree to an extent, Atletico also are based in Spain where, apart from Barca and Real, all the other teams are pretty skint, meaning when they do sell players for large fees it puts them miles ahead financially than your Sevilla/Valencias, making continental qualification that bit easier/more attainable. They are also viewed as a bigger club and will pay larger wages than us, so can attract more established players than we can. And they also have profited massively from part ownership rules aswell, which are illegal in England.
