35m would prob take that at the moment to be fair. Invest that into a top quality striker with a bit left over to go towards a new midfielder.

You could get 2-3 first teamers for the Sterling money.

Problem is, I have no faith that the club will wisely reinvest the money.

Raheem Sterling: Liverpool player 'to tell club he wants to leave'
By Ben Smith BBC Sport
Raheem Sterling is expected to tell Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers he wants to leave Anfield this summer.
The England forward has already turned down a new £100,000-a-week contract, and denied being a "money-grabber" i
Sterling will meet Reds chief executive Ian Ayre and Rodgers on Friday, when he is set to tell them he wants to go.
The club have declined to comment but it is understood they still want the 20-year-old, whose deal ends in 2017.

Should he be made available, Manchester City remain the frontrunners for his signature but Arsenal and a number of leading European clubs have also expressed an interest.
While Liverpool insist they will not sell for any price this summer, their resolve may be tested by an offer in the region of £35m.
BBC Sport has learned Sterling raised the subject of his future with Rodgers before the 1-1 draw with Chelsea on 10 May.
Sterling - whose current contract is worth £35,000 a week - said in an interview on 1 April that he "talks about winning trophies" rather than money.
Former Reds defender and BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson said at the time that Sterling had put himself "under pressure" with his comments.
Liverpool's last piece of silverware came in 2012, when they won the League Cup, and they have missed out on Champions League qualification for next season.

Analysis: BBC Sport's Phil McNulty

"Liverpool owner John W Henry will not be bounced into a sale, bullied by requests to leave or held to ransom by Sterling and his representative Aidy Ward. Nor should he be."

Rodgers has previously said: "Liverpool are one of the superpowers of football and if the owners don't want to sell, they don't have to."
Speaking on Friday, captain Steven Gerrard told Sterling to stay and play for a coach who "believes in him".
"I think there is no-one better for him than Brendan Rodgers," said Gerrard, who will join MLS side LA Galaxy this summer after 17 years at Anfield.
"The danger for younger players is they want it all too soon and go to another club and just become a number."
Manchester City midfielder James Milner, 29, will turn down a lucrative new four-year contract worth up to £165,000 a week in order to join Arsenal. Liverpool also want the England international. (Daily Star)
Liverpool are also interested in City's 29-year-old Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko. (Mail)
Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, 27, has described his first season at Anfield as "very average"
but says the club can cope with the loss of 34-year-old captain Steven Gerrard with the players they already have. (Guardian)

Ben Smith hinted that Sterling fell out with Rodgers, and that Rodgers had lost the dressing room.

I would say he is speculating on the thought that if Rodgers does go he looks in the know but he looks in the know anyway due to sterling.

It's win Win for him.... other than the fact he broke the torres story.

That Ben Smith piece is awful. Only a few quotes in it and none of them are relevant <doh>

Ben Smith is enemy within

Things crawl in the darkness
That imagination spins
Needles at your nerve ends
Crawl like spiders on your skin
Pounding in your temples
And a surge of adrenaline
Every muscle tense to fence the enemy within

[Chorus:]
I'm not giving in to security under pressure
I'm not missing out on the promise of adventure
I'm not giving up on implausible dreams
Experience to extremes
Experience to extremes...

Suspicious looking stranger
Flashes you a dangerous grin
Shadows across your window...
Was it only trees in the wind?
Every breath a static charge,
A tongue that tastes like tin
Steely-eyed outside to hide the enemy within
To you, is it movement or is it action?
Is it contact or just reaction?
And you...revolution or just resistance?
Is it living, or just existence?
Yeah, you! It takes a little more persistence
To get up and go the distance

[Chorus]

In the end lads in all seriousness.

the press know more then the owners about whats going on.. this is a consistent theme at anfield and all points to the malaise that is there.

Leaks or should i say rampant selling of stories has been at anfield for a very long time. Its for instance well known carragher would give out team sheets to his mates to bet on for early cup ties.

I regularly knew the league cup team 2 days in advance for instance.

According to RHC his press mate knows the entire LFc strategy already from rodgers et al.

Ben smith on 5 live said Sterling was told our strategy was to buy Ings and Milner. TBH I'd be looking for a new job if I played for us and wasn't a true red at heart - we're a **** option and about to make a whole raft of average signings.

<laugh> Yes, I'm sure that'll be it!
