Do you think he will drop his wages? I don't.

Good point, hadn't of thought of that - possibly not, but at the same time, he might have to, none of the big clubs are gonna want him, anyone know what he's on at City?

We can spend more than £2.5 million you know! Maybe Tom Ince - I still rate him.

I know we can, where did I suggest we couldn't? All I was saying is I think he would be worth a look at that price, and yes I still rate Ince as well, but he seems to have more of an attitude problem than Sinclair, refusing to play for u21s - not a good egg in my book. Plus he turned down Inter Milan for more money at Hull...

Hmm, why did Sinclair leave Swansea for City?

Yeah I know that, everyone always says about players but maybe after a good season and media love in he fancied his chances of getting in their team? I'm sure he regrets it now but it's a bit different to turning down one of Europes biggest clubs to join Hull City (no disrespect to them) - Also what about refusing to play for England u21s? You seem to have ignored that point...

I'm not actually sure he was really offered a contract at Inter.

I'd worry about his attitude too, although he seemed to put in a shift for Derby.

I think Ron (and indeed most people who actually work in football) are more pragmatic than fans.....Clyne is our best player in that position and will continue to play. Whatever he is thinking, he is saying the right things. He's enjoyed playing at Saints, is happy here and, like all footballers, would like to play in the CL. Nothing contentious there...unless you work in the media. I think suspending a mate for no good reason would hardly improve morale.
There's no doubt though his performances have dropped off recently as everyone has noted. My view is our team, players, need to play at 100.0% to achieve the performance levels of earlier in the season. A few injuries / suspensions (replacements not being quite up to the mark) & in this case "slight head turning distractions" are enough to drop the performance level where we can't achieve, hence recent form.

If we are talking about available quick wingers with goal threat - Sidney Sam has just been released by Shalke. Him and Mane on either wing would pertrify defences

Doesn't sound like he was pulling his weight at Shalke though, which is why he was released, but he ahs been one of the better players in Germany for a couple of years now and is a better player than SInclair, Elia and Ince. Might be worth a gamble.

Seen him lately? He makes Elia look world class.

The only time I have really been annoyed at Clyne's effort was the last game.

Other than that, I agree that his performances have been a bit off lately but mainly on the offensive end. He's put in some good tackles, and I feel like if you aren't trying that defense is the first to go. He just doesn't get to the byline that much. I've always felt that way about him. So when teams put 11 men behind the ball, he ends up in kind of a support role just hanging out as sort of a spare midfielder. And since we don't really have a right winger for him to play off of, he ends up having a quiet game.

I feel it has happened to a lesser degree with Bertrand as well. Bertrand loves getting to the byline and does it every chance he gets. And at the beginning of the year he and Tadic were playing off each other beautifully. Bertrand was looking to make that overlapping run every time, and Tadic would play it to him. Now we still get a one or two of those from Bertrand every game, but not enough, and not quite as effective.

I'd be quite happy if Clyne re-signed with us. If his recent play has put off the big teams then all these frustrating and horrible losses might end up being a blessing in disguise.

What about Rob Green now QPR are gone. Capable for first half of season or however long FF is out and a v good number two.
I suggested this on the Ron Ruthless thread, I think he'd be fine. Most people still associate him with the gaffe he made during the 2010 World Cup but he's actually not a bad keeper, just suffering from playing behind an awful defence.
