TBH, we are not a big club in the eyes of the general public.

There will be a lot of people who watch matches on Sky that won't know where Sunderland is, let alone be interested in watching us.

We scored the fourth least goals last year and at the end of the day, a neutral won't be interested in watching a 1-0 win, will they?

But if Sky were looking at it like that, Wolves, who are being shown three times, are hardly exciting to watch. The same goes to Stoke.

What REALLY baffles me, though is the derby game not being shown on TV, when on that weekend, they're showing:

    Sat 20: Arsenal v Liverpool (12.45pm) - Fair enough
Sun 21: Bolton v Man City (4pm) WHAT THE ****?
Mon 22: Man Utd v Tottenham (8pm) - Fair enough

Surely Sky will understand that our derby is bigger than Bolton v Man City? What makes it worse, is they consider QPR vs Chelsea a 'major' derby, but clearly not ours.

I live in London, so I only get to around 5 games a season, so when Sky **** us over like this, I get really pissed off. But I do understand why.

I'm coming up for the derby anyway! :D

I'm sure teams are allocated a lower limit of games that they have to be televised for. Last season I think Sunderland were allocated 10 and they were shown on tv 10 times but I can't be certain. We were also allocated 10 but were shown around 13/14 times. That is what bumped our income up. Although you won more prize money for finishing higher, that was offset by how much money we brought in for being on the tv. It does pay to be on the tv.

Yes but this is only for one half of the season. We may get more coverage in the second half of the season. Who knows. Anyway I don't have sky so, in relation to watching the games on TV, it doesn't matter to me who is on and when.

Factually incorrect, Sky pays the exact same figure to every club in the Premier League, they don't pay on a game to game basis

Personally and I will probably be in the minority here i think its brilliant. Theres nothing better than a 3 o'clock kick off on a saturday and the fact that none of our home games until November are on sky means our times wont be pissed around apart from the derby but thats understandable. Cant say i wouldnt mind having a few away games live on the box but i guess i cant have it both ways.

Also everyone pissing and moaning about tv money per game just think how much revenue the club looses out on in terms of gate reciepts when the games on the box as probably 5,000 will decide to watch it on the tv and not bother going, so in a way the money argument is a non-starter for me.

Oh yeah forgot to mention i can only generally make 3 o'clock kick offs on a saturday due to the shifts i work unless i book a holiday in advance but its not worth it to see a football game it rather save them and go on a proper holiday. (Ive done it for the derby mind but that is a one off and i wasnt sure if it would be played on sat or sun)

What is wrong with the whole situation is the flagrant disregard - YET AGAIN, SEASON UPON SEASON -of SAFC. We are not Wigan, Bolton, Norwich, QPR, etc. We get 40,000 home games. We deserve a bit of respect.

This is a load of carp! We are on once (same as wigan) all the other teams are on 3 times or more. Now we provided some good football last season for sky viewers. You cannot tell me that we have less pulling power, than Stoke, Bolton, Fulham, Norwich, QPR, Swansea, Blackburn, Wolves or West Brom. Maybe Sunderland fans don't subscribe as much and turn out to pubs more to watch the match?????

THEY DO OFFER ALL THE GAMES MATE, you have 3 on sky sports 1 on Santander, 1 on ESPN and the rest are shown on Sky France Germany Italy or Netherlands or Spain, you have to buy a satellite and its just a press of a button to change the commentary to English.

I gave sky sports up a while back as I want to give Murdoch and his whole exploitative capitalist empire as little dosh as possible.

Also it might be my perception but we seem to do worse when we're live on TV so maybe it'll be worth another few point this season :emoticon-0105-wink:

Of couse they want to show that mags more this year - classic 'difficult second season' potential and probably hoping to see them implode because distraught mags are in a class of their own when it comes to reality TV.

you should know they play the worst games last on MOTD, just face it, still, we had loads at the begining of the season last season but had none towards the end but it will probably even out

Nobody on here needs sky or any other satellite tv.

All you need is a pc with broadband connection which you all have.

I havn't missed an away game for years apart from about 5.

My health is not what it was & my problems in that respect come & go.

When I'm not up to going, I watch home games on here as well.

None of you need to line Murdoch,s pockets.
