Thanks for the info SAFCOL. Just means we aren't profitable, crowd-pulling, pretty or good enough. YET. Lets hope we ram it down their fat, greasy, corporate throats. Murdoch and his cronies. Scum of the earth. Below estate agents and accident lawyers. Come the revolution, "there's the wall. Stand in front please, now.....SMILE" Bang bang bang. x
F*ck sky!! Last season we were on TV 6 times within the first 3 months, now only 4? And only 3 more than Sunderland? Damn you sky, Damn yooouuuuuuuuu!!! >: (
Aye sounds about right mate. Going back to an earlier point then, surely the way to get around this is to improve league positions over the next couple of seasons, pushing for a European spot, maybe with a good cup run or two thrown in, once this has been achieved then surely Sky would screen more of our games?
They will have their reasons. They will have statistics and demographics of all of the Sky Sports audience. The club's who's fans make them the least money will have less games shown. Simple as that. The reasons why, only they will know.
The purchase of the S Korean lad must be to increase interest, I think. Remind me again. What is Milliband's role at SAFC? x
Many will not like this but I'm afraid its true, no longer bothers me TBH. I agree and must confess I was getting a little pissed of last season and I'm looking forward to 3 on a Sat, proper time
Increase interest where mate? Most of the Asian countries show every game, anyway. That deal will more than likely be about sponsorship potential.
I bow to your "on the spot" knowledge, Commanch. Please explain to me the sponsorship angle? Genuine question. x
I'm annoyed for a slightly different reason. I live right down South and work weekends, I haven't been to a home game for a few seasons. I miss the SoL. And I just want to see as many full games as possible! Match of the day just doesn't cut it. I agree with the points made regarding us not being the biggest draw, and I'm also sure it will sort of balance itself out in the second half of the season. I can also understand you lucky people who make it to the home games, would rather it was 3pm Saturday than 5pm Sunday! I don't see why Sky can't offer all the games that are playing, with the choice of what you watch on the red button? Or am I thinking too simply and that would get in the way of the technicalities of the ESPN/BBC deals?
The point is, when you get right down to it. I pay the same subscription as everyone else, i pay the same licence fee as everyone else, but my team is grossly under represented by by the companies I pay this money too. Sick of it. Stuff their subscriptions up their greedy corporate arses. If I could get away with not paying for the TV licence I would tell them to shove that as well.
Well i may be way off the mark, but if he is a hit in the prem more people inc. companies may take notice. So you may start to see Koreans advertising boards etc around the ground. It's all about marketing, sales of shirts he will bring in will be tiny. The Asian population love English football, and if their main companies can take advantage of it they will.
I am sure they are all sitting in a board room meeting now conspiring on how they can lower Sunderland's media profile. This stuff is hilarious
I ditched Sky before last season started. Don't need to give Murdoch and co any thing as they might tap your mobile.
I thought it would work the other way, Commach. I thought a local boy doing good here would mean increased interest in us over there. Point taken. Thanks. x
Not quite, but I'm sure somewhere people are plotting on how to increase the big fours media profile at the expence of the rest of the league.
It will, that's my point, the more interest over there to watch SAFC games, the more likely Korean companies are to want sponsorship deals etc. Hopefully it could make a lot of money for the club, more than any shirt sales.
