I'm sure some one with a spare hour or so could check to see which newly built landmarks are viewable and make a pretty good guess from there.....

Those houses only had pedestrian access, via a barrow crossing of the main line tracks from the HRI car park, which I would guess is one of the reasons at they were demolished. Shame, cos I envisaged one of them being my retirement home!

Road access is via the footbridge alongside East Stand. That's why there is a ramp up from the external concourse, and a signposted weight limit on the bridge itself.

It seems I did the Council a disservice, they've told Allam to remove the pitch or face legal action.

    Fair play to 'em.

    Authors of their own downfall.

    Such immense business acumen.

I remember all those people back in the day making posts about the Allams taking advice on the name change, as if the decisions they made were in any way thought through.

It's obvious they aren't, they've embarrassed themselves and now their supporters don't have the guts to admit they got it wrong.

Reading the council statement it seems the council are putting in the planning in themselves (Which makes it as good as passed no matter how careful the council are with guarantees) for the dome area to get over the situation. Whats the betting they find the funds to help out too.

AA has probably won this round (As much as it hurts to say it) and the threat of legal action is them (HCC) trying to save face.

Nice to see the council taking proper action.

I wonder how the Allam's feel if Caterpillar or another massive generator corporation decided they wanted all Allam Marine contracts and bullied them out of them.

It doesn't matter if the waste land / unused space is a triangle, square or circle. It doesn't matter if the access is a footbridge or a three lane motorway. HCC will not build another arena for the local community because there already is one, which is too small to help Hull City get Cat 2 acadamy status so Mr Allam will have to go find somewhere else to lay his 3G carpet.

Indeed, I realise they haven't actually taken any action yet, but announcing they're considering it does make it more likely.

Hull City Council - Press Releases

Council takes action on Airco Arena - 16/04/2015

Hull City Council has written to the Super-Stadium Management Company (SMC) requesting the immediate removal of the 3G pitch laid without its consent at the Airco Arena, so that this valued community facility can be reinstated for use by a variety of sports and "by any resident of Kingston upon Hull".

In a letter to Ehab Allam, Vice Chairman of the SMC, the Council confirms that the laying of the pitch without permission and for exclusive use by Hull City AFC is a breach of its lease and that - if the SMC fails to comply - legal action will be considered.

A further letter has been sent by the Council to Richard Scudamore, Chief Executive of the Premier League, highlighting that the SMC does not have a "legally enforceable agreement with the owner for exclusive use of an indoor artificial surface" - a key Premier League requirement for any club looking to attain Category 2 Training Academy status.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Stephen Brady, today restated his support for an alternative 'dome pitch' to be provided on the site of nearby hockey pitches and confirmed that the Council itself will apply for planning permission for such a facility in a bid to speed up the process should the Premier League determine that the Airco Arena does not comply with their academy assessment requirements and the SMC and Hull City AFC have to reconsider their position.

This planning application will mean that an alternative compliant facility could be delivered in time for the academy audit schedule the Club has indicated to the Council although, from the recent statement by the Premier League, it is now understood that this timeline has actually been set by the Club itself and not the Premier League. As a consequence, there is absolutely no reason why these dates cannot be amended to protect the interests of the existing community users whilst still allowing a facility to be developed very quickly that allows the Club to achieve Category 2 Training Academy status.

    Councillor Brady said:

"In all good faith, having only being made aware of the issue when the Club served notice on the community users, we entered into discussions with the Club about the provision of an alternative facility that would meet the timetable and needs of all parties, whilst retaining the Airco Arena for community use.

"Despite this achievable alternative, the Club have changed the use of the Arena with scant regard for the impact on hundreds of people who use the facility day-in, day-out and the community sports clubs who are proud to call it their home. It's on their behalf that we take this action today.

"We remain steadfast in our support for Hull City and their ambition to establish a Category 2 Training Academy and we are confident that, working with them, the Premier League and other parties, we can make this happen. Our door is open and we are ready to continue our discussions with the Club about the dome pitch at any time."

Good. And although they use the word 'consider' they're clearly not going to go to all this public length and then just rollover and let him do what he wants. It's a threat and they're assuming the club will back down before legal action is required.

The Council should just lock up all the councillors and let Daryll Stephenson do all the talking.

Well that's the problem with democracy, people elect idiots. Whilst in the chief executive role you get talented, intelligent people.

The Council putting the application in is as good as telling the Allam's to piss, or get off the pot.

Don't get any of the implications regarding the council planning for a bubble pitch - do they need to do that? Is this going to be at the public expense for the private profit of the Allams? Other than that it seems as though the council are acting reasonably.

They only have to fill in one of their own forms, it's hardly a costly or time consuming exercise.

The Council putting the planning in, closes another door to Allam's excuses. The Allams tried to force the Council's hand, the Council seem to be returning the favour.
