    Leicester are Cat 1.

They passed their audit for cat 1 in 2013 after building all their new training facilities, of which their training done is one of, which is hired out to local grassroots teams.

So the key then is when they were successfully audited.

City have already got approval from the FA for what they're planning, so it's obviously not an issue.

Couldn't City allow other clubs in, provided they use the surface and facilities as is, and provided City have absolute priority of use whenever they need it?

    I think that's exactly what's been agreed.

The point is that any resident of Hull has the right to use the Airco Arena as a sports hall at any reasonable time, at a cost broadly equivalent to that charged by the Council. If the Council insist on the lease being honoured then Hull City will fail its audit. It may come down to whether the Council has the balls to insist the SMC abides by its lease.

If the council were going to do anything, they would have done it already, they're about to start laying the new 3G pitch.

Assem Allam donates to the Labour Party and the Council does nothing apart from write a letter. They are even considering paying off the RBS mortgage and giving Hull City Tigers Limited £6 million.

    Interesting times, in deed.

Thats the proposal, but on a 3G surface only football teams can really use it.

Looks like there's a lifeline for local sports clubs at the Airco Arena. The next step is for Hull City to speak to Hull City Council.

    Anyone know what's happened?

They read this thread and realised that they can rent out the facility as other, more advanced premier league clubs do.

He'll probably go ahead anyway, he'll just blame the council for it not being moved. <laugh>

It seems we're going to build a new bubble pitch behind the Airco for £850k and as long as it's all agreed and a deposit paid ahead, with a guarantee that it will be completed by September, then the audit can still go ahead.

Great news if it happens, but how could it be done in time for the audit?

Unless the whole thing was just posturing to get the council to pay some or all of the cost of a bubble pitch.

    Club statement...

"We confirm that subsequent to meetings held between the club and representatives of the Barclays Premier League with regards to our EPPP Category 2 re-audit, the League have agreed to allow the football club the opportunity to build a bubble pitch behind the Airco Arena as long as plans are agreed & deposit paid prior to the audit due to start later this month."

"The Premier League would require the build to be completed by September, the new facility will cost around £850,000. The club requires planning permission from Hull City Council to begin & will be corresponding with officers over the coming days. Plans to lay a 3G pitch within the Airco Arena have been postponed until Tuesday of next week. The club has requested assurances from the council in this regard and is awaiting their response."

"We would like to thank both the Barclays Premier League & MP Alan Johnson for their assistance with this matter"

    Well.

Not quite the devil incarnate they've been portrayed after all, are they?

Can we expect some apologies for the over reactions? Or people claiming credit for this from the club? Or just huffing and puffing yeah but no but yeahs?

I can't wait to see if someone claims they had no choice in this.

Is it obvious yet why I don't just get my pitchfork out and demand a lynching when someone starts screaming blue murder over something?

Club continues to benefit, local area continues to benefit, both from the Allams.

    Allam out?

Kinell. Some of you don't know you're born.

    <laugh> COTM nomination right there.

Obviously he'll lose to Allam, but he at least deserves to be on the list.
