There's no way we should be looking to get rid of Walcott, and even with only a year an a bit left on his contract, £25m + Walcott is crazy! IMO if we keep Walcott and get a DM/Physical midfielder then our midfield/attack will be complete - unless an amazing proper centre forward comes along of course - but seeing as Giroud's stats are so good this season, and Welbeck is likely to improve (and seemingly has Wenger's trust) I can't see a striker being signed.
Walcott like Sterling is also running down his contract and with Wenger not really playing him much, Walcott could be starting to consider his future, Sterling could be an option as a potential replacement, and clearly Sterling in on another level compared to Walcott in terms of just pure skill, it probably will never happen because Liverpool showed with Suarez, that they won't sell to rivals.
Personally id have sterling ahead of Theo his pace with his dribling ability he is a younger and better version of Theo minus the goals but that will come. But to be honest i dont see Theo going to pool from the reports i stress just reports Theo and raheem both want pay rises Liverpool are not prepared to go over 100K for raheem so why would they do this for Theo so this is a dead story for me i see raheem going to City and sitting on the bench
Being linked with Chris Smalling an awful lot. Me no likey. Arsenal FC that is, not me, I've had zero contact with the guy...
http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/sami-khedira-confirms-leaving-real-madrid-freekhe-season-kicker/ is he on his way here ?
Walcott is a good player, but if we lose him, and make the signings we need like strengthening our defence, he really won't be missed. Let's be honest, at no point this season (to my knowledge) were people or are saying DAMN WITH WALCOTT we will go win everything....Our attack is doing just fine without Walcott, and will do fine if he leaves. Missing Walcott has never been our main problem, but pub defending for a lot of times this season, especially during the first half of the season, was our main problem, and a large part of that has been fixed with the addition of the Coq. I still think we should make one more addition to our striking department, with a world class striker signing. But if Walcott goes....Then he goes, we won't suffer one iota.
Walcott has not really 'delivered' on the promise he was showing when he first came here. On his day he can be wonderful but his days are becoming few and far apart. He may well benefit from a move and we may as well cash in on him now. I would be sad to see him go - but the club has to make the right choices for the future.
Compared to now.. sure. But I still maintain a Sanchez-Giroud-Walcott is a forward line with massive potential for goals. People have short memories. If we added the Walcott of TWO seasons ago to this side we would be up there with Chelsea. 23 goals and 13assist from a wide position that year. It was only the performance of Gareth Bale that stopped him getting PFA player of the year. He needs games, that's all. There are very few WF's out here we could buy that can give our squad that kind of goal threat. I would take Reus head of Walcott (although his passing is no better - in fact statistically its worse) and obviously Bale but apart from that I don't see us improving in this area.
Hahaha, bloody stats. If you actually watch the two players instead of basing things on stats, you would see that Reus is a million times better than Walcott when it comes to passing let alone all the other things. Walcott only has two passes in his entire game, the pass back to the full back and the cut back if he manages to get beyond the full back, he does not try any other passes. Marco Reus on the other hand is a proper footballer, he tries evey kind of pass in the book in order to unlock defence's, he does not always play the safe pass, hence the misleading stats. Oh and Walcott was nothing special two seasons ago, he was nowhere near the PFA player of the year award, he did not even get in the team of the year, in fact pretty sure he did not even get nominated. He scored five against the mighty Reading and Coventry in the league cup and one against Brighton in the Fa Cup, so six against Championsip teams, he also scored 21 goals that season not 23, this was to date Walcott's greatest season as a footballer, which says it all.
Walcott returned from injury in Janaury, and has just started five games, why? Is it because Wenger who watches him in training day in day out can see that Walcott is so limited and therefore can't start ahead of better players? Two seasons ago, we did not have Sanchez,Ozil and Welbeck, so Walcott was a starter, nowadays he barely gets off the bench. I used to like Walcott, but he was one of the best we had back then, now we have more money can buy better players, in fact already have better players, so he is no longer a nailed on starter, which is why he can **** off with his £100k plus demands.
Could also be because he's been out for near a year and still is yet to hit top form? Hell there was even an article not too long ago on Arsenal.com where Wenger says he's deliberately easing in Walcott and doesn't want to rush him back nor disrupt the current team cohesion. I mean FFS it took Ramsey months to recover and yet he's one of our most important players now but sure let's get rid of Theo because he isn't producing yet. Then when he does start hitting goals at whatever team he'd move too we can all complain about that and hindsight. Walcott on his best is still one of our best players, hell he'd probably still be starting winger along with Sanchez if he was back on top form, not to mention I also feel that with Bellerin as main RB and Walcott's tendency to stay further forward, Wenger is waiting for our more experienced RB to come back before Theo gets more frequent starts.
Not really, he does not get game time because there is simply better players than him in our squad, the bloke has FIVE starts since the start of January, this is not what I call easing someone in, also If he was so important, Wenger would simple give him game time to get him match fit, if this was Ozil or Sanchez he sure as hell won't do what he has done with Walcott. Also no ****ing chance he starts if all our players are fit, who are you going to drop? Ramsey plays in CM when fit and Giroud is our CF, therefore it means one of Sanchez,Ozil or Cazorla gets dropped for Walcott. Plus, Wenger simply does not like the idea of playing two players like Sanchez and Walcott on the wings, he balances it out by playing a Cazorla,Ozil or Welbeck because those players keep the ball better than Sanchez and Walcott. Therefore I can't see Wenger ever regularly starting Sanchez and Walcott in the same team. Oh and I brought the idea of getting rid of him because the bloke is not signing a new contract and after this season, he is on the final year of his contract with us, plus with his wages he will clearly want an increase on that if he is to sign a new contract, and in my opinion he is not worth it and clearly Wenger and the club share my view, hence they have not offered him the deal he wants, oh and please do not bring up any bollock quote about Walcott or the club saying they have not started any contract talk, because that's nonsense, no way they would just ignore the fact that his contract is coming to an end in a years time, at least I bloody hope not.
I think there is no reason to get rid of Theo and seeing as Wenger does want to start contract talks, netiher does he. However if the likes of Sterling or Reus are actually gettable/likely targets then in all honesty I would be very comfortable in letting Theo go. Again keep him but if we are looking at a major upgrade then I am ok letting him go.
I think he should sign a years extension at same money for the year we paid him whilst injured, and not start making demands for increased wage. i love Theo when he is on form but that is too infrequent for him to be a starter. He is in a similar situation as Wilshere in that they get injured for too often so their run of games is limited, and we have now also other options to pick from so again limiting their game time. imo we should keep Theo as good for squad but if he demands stupid money and game starts (like previously) then lets sell him and use his wage to get in upgrade - Bale would be obvious pick if available as it would **** off Spurs ! we could afford his wages if we free up money from theo and podolski, Diaby and Arteta
We need to go after this guy (the guy who makes the pass, not the useless cretin who misses the chance!): How I miss this guy.
Looks like Van Gaal will really be going after Hummels this Summer. Shame because he would be a great signing for us also.
Hugo Iloris for 20million....probably worth it! Just to piss of Spurs http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/t...ion-release-clause-tottenham-france-football/
