Aston Villa will be hoping to take the confidence gained from successive Midlands derby wins into their crunch Premier League clash with Sunderland on Saturday.

Tim Sherwood's team beat local rivals West Bromwich Albion twice last week to firstly climb out of the relegation zone and then advance to the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Sunderland faithful, though, have had little to shout about all season and defeat for them on Wearside would see them leapfrogged by Villa and fall to 17th in the table.

Fans can join in matchday activities and win prizes on Saturday.

As part of the brand new 2015-16 season card campaign fans can join in a number activities and be part of the [HASHTAG]#RedAndWhiteArmy[/HASHTAG].

Ahead of the visit of Aston Villa on Saturday the Stadium of Light concourses will be decorated with [HASHTAG]#RedAndWhiteArmy[/HASHTAG] artwork where fans can pose alongside over-sized posters of Seb Larsson, Jack Rodwell and Connor Wickham and recreate the season card campaign.

Young fans can also get involved in the Family Zone, with face painters there to paint junior supporters’ faces just like their favourite players.

During half time keep an eye out for special t-shirt launchers, where one-off [HASHTAG]#RedAndWhiteArmy[/HASHTAG] t-shirts will be fired into the crowd – some of which will have 2015-16 season cards wrapped inside!

If you get involved with any of the activities – whether your child gets their face-painted, you’re lucky enough to grab a t-shirt or you’re just kitted out in Sunderland colours for the game, be sure to share your pics on Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtag [HASHTAG]#RedAndWhiteArmy[/HASHTAG] to star in our very special leaderboard gallery.

Edit - Lawro has Villa to win so that should mean we have a better chance!!

Poyet: Black Cats ready for Villa

Gus Poyet believes Sunderland’s extended break will provide physical and psychological benefits ahead of Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa.

The Black Cats haven’t featured since a 1-1 draw against Hull City over one week ago, but they return to action on Saturday when Tim Sherwood’s revitalised Villains come to town.

Just one point currently separates the two sides in the Barclays Premier League, and Villa will travel to Wearside with plenty of optimism following back to back wins against West Bromwich Albion.

However, Poyet assures the Black Cats are also raring to go.

“One of the opportunities you have when you have a weekend off is the ability to switch off,” explained Poyet. “It means that when you come back you do so fresh and raring to go for the next game, but the break was also important because we had a large quantity of games over the past couple of months.

“I don’t think it was about being tired physically it was more about recovering mentally and Saturday’s game will show that we’re in a better situation.”

He continued: “We always said that the most important games in the second part of the season were at home.

“The Barclays Premier League is very tight and one decision can change a game, but if we keep going this way and keep believing we will be alright.”
 
Villa seem to have made a massive effort to become despicable whining tossers ....... club & fans alike.

I obviously want Sunderland to win but, for their sake, I hope we absolutely batter them.

Is it any coincidence that the highest percentage of people on the sex offenders register, by head of population in the entire country, is in ............

.......... the West Midlands?
 
Just looking at the above,with the previous results bit,and I did'nt actually realise how piss poor we are against villa. 1,yes 1, win in the past 11 meetings !! . Just have to hope its time for our luck to change. And yes Marcus your right - Agbonlahor is a complete cnut

I hate to say this but I'm really struggling for interest at the minute, 34 years, relegations, I've never spent less time thinking about the club.

So, early start tomorrow, bevvied up and get to the match boistrous, and likely pissing like a racehorse.

A nervy 2-1.

Same here Gustavo…….Poyet has bored me to f**kin death, he is as bad as Wilkinson. If we feel like this how must the players. Villa will beat us tomorrow because they will be up for it.

Cheer up SM, it's Friday night. I totally agree what you say about GP but I don't see Villa beating us tomorrow.
 
There is sometimes a doorman on, but it is very relaxed and just a case of signing your name and hoying 20 pence in the box..
