You are bang on there Tooting, the BBC don´t really cater for that ´type´of audience anymore but they have done a fantastic job catering for ´everyone else´

I never said you did needed my permission Stan, I just stated my outrage when people defend a terrible organisation, as clearly stated.

So you feel the organisation is well run and benefits society? I don't, I think I should be far more balanced in output and editorial standards.

As an IT Engineer who works from home I rather a Virgin Internet Connection and 2nd rate TV than have to pay Sky a penny. What a nutter I am.

Rupert M doesn't need my money, he got enough already.

I love Skye. Nice mountains, weather can be a bit dodgy. As for Sky, never have and never will get a penny out of me knowingly.

I don't know much about behind the scenes but the BBC still makes some great programmes....sadly they are increasingly on at odd hours or infrequently now....there's always MOTD of course...if you ignore the punditry that is!

It has made some great programs in the past, not so many recently I'd say. It's too large and unwieldy and taxpayer's money is being wasted on unnecessary expenses by unnecessary layers of management. Break it up and have lean and efficient parts that compete with the commercial market on a level playing field. I'd be in favour of government grant for radio so adverts are avoided.

What worries me is we will throw out the baby with the bath water and quality public broadcasting that also educates will be lost.

The left wing BBC makes very little quality public broadcasting imo.

I have seen a few comments that the BBC is 'left wing' and heard this for years but personally I don't see that. I would say it is firmly 'middle of the road' and probably that's where a public broadcaster should be. I guess it looks right wing from a communists perspective and left wing to someone further to the right. All relative to ones own views.

Thankfully all Rangers supporter are balanced in their views whatever their perspectives or this forum could get into trouble from time to time!

Does the right wing BBC make more of it?

Well I'm certainly not looking at it from a "further to the right" perspective. Just right of centre at the most.

It was well documented a few years back that those in charge of the BBC had admitted to the corporation being "institutionally left wing".
You can see it on all the News programmes and political shows like Question Time and The David Vine Radio programme, where the people with a left leaning perspective are regularly allowed far more time to speak than the others.
Matt Baker on The One Show regularly fails to hide his political leanings. The list goes on and on.

You also moan about that you can't stream matches some days, Virgin Internet is the business. If they let you access the website you want.

One great thing about the BBC is that people on the left claim is has a right-wing bias while people on the right claim is has a left-wing bias. That suggests balance.

BBC USED to have a great natural history unit in Pebble Mill. Their programmes were second to none, they have now lost almost all of these to Sky. The only things worth watching on the Beeb in my opinion are Top Gear. MOTD, (if we get relegated, The Football League Show with that tit Claridge), Masterchef and a few quiz shows. Other than that MY licence fee is a waste of money par excellence!!!
