The Express blames it on immigrants and says the ghost of Princess Di told them so.

<laugh>.
The surface at Anfield has historically been good.How the **** has it deteriorated so badly?

From the Daily Fail article, looks like it's just past the end of it's life and the groundsmen are simply trying to keep it in a reasonable condition.

Well, they need to try harder because they're failing <laugh>

That's ridiculous journalism IMO. How much would a new pitch cost in the grand scheme of things? Hardly worth holding off and potentially damaging the playing side of things.

I think I recall that a new pitch would cost around £1m. I have no idea why it wouldn't have been done in prior seasons to this but do totally understand why we may not do it this close season. <ok>

They've squeezed out 40% more life out of it than recommended before it's gotten to this stage, if they'd invested when they had to, we probably wouldn't have been able to afford Paul Konchesky :bandit:

<laugh>

It is ridiculous though. In a day and age when the club is getting so much money we can't replace a pitch? Didn't Man Utd once re-turf OT three times in one season?

In December Rodgers said:

"We will be getting a new pitch next summer to help the speed of our game"

It's not simply turf these days, it's a whole 'system'

I can remember the OT pitch being a real problem for a while after they'd developed the last time....I'm pretty sure that if it was a simple decision to make, they'd have done it this year. I'm guessing that if it needs totally upgrading including a modern sprinkler system, it's not just a case of laying down new turf. <ok>

The Man Utd thing was within the last ten years
Just in case you didn't read the article properly- admittedly not like you at all- I'll point out that they're expecting cranes on the pitch in the summer as part of the redevelopment procedure, so it's hardly likely they're going to shell out before that. It's not just the turf, the whole drainage and irrigation system is archaic.
God knows what we'll be playing on next season if we've had the builders in.

Not for Fellaini's head, they are now trying to protect their prized asset by keeping his head safe

Looks like Man Utd are working on their tactics there :bandit:
