Spitting in a mans face is pure filth.
Personally I'd rather be punched in the mouth or be called a white honky bastard than be spat at.
Spitting at another player should be sine die for me.
And furthermore, they should have their legs amputated just for good measure.

Ban them both for 6 games it's pure filth spitting in someone's face. Boils my piss horrible ****s.

Seven match ban, for the dirty skunk, which includes the game against us .......... looks like we'll have to face the combined might of Perez & Riviére.

Perez has talent, even if he's weak, but Riviére will never make it in the PL, as I said on the day they signed him.

I have to say it makes me laugh to hear the Mags praising Cisse for 'owning up' and apologising <doh>
He was filmed spitting at Evans so what other choice does he have?

Diddles, I was a bouncer during the Punk period and totally understood the reasoning behind the spitting.

I worked at the Porterhouse, Retford & Rock City, Nottingham where we had all kinds of bands.

The 'spit at us' comments by Rotten etc were a reaction to the aloof & distant super-groups who were kept miles from the fans.

The Punk bands were 'cheek to cheek' with the fans and thought themselves no better.

Going a bit ot. Rotten knew back in 77.

I remember that as if it was yesterday.
Voller should have decked the filthy, stinking Dutch bastard.
They were on about it on Talkshite radio yesterday & one bloke was astonished at the length of Cisse's ban asking, 'how come you get that long for spitting & get less for a racist comment?
Well I'm sorry but youi can't catch a disease from being called a black **** or a white honky.
You can off some dirty bastards phlegm though.
There's a simple answer - sine die the ****s.

With regards to the discussion "I'd rather have my head kicked in than spitting".

Put it this way, if I had the choice of taking a gozz to the face off Anderson Silva or 2 minutes no holds barred in the ring with him, I'd choose the spit if it's all the same, fact is, he's gonna absolutely ruin you into an unconscious state in a matter of seconds unless you're very lucky, if you get into a scrap with him.

On the other hand, if some chav in the street spits at me, the chances are he'll get his head opened up and left for dead, whereas if he hit me, I'd be happy to walk away after rendering his body limp.

It's all a bit relative, for me anyway.

I would never to decide spit in anybodies face. However if somebody gobbed in my face I would not be able to guarantee, at the heat of the moment, that I wouldn't spit back at him! I would then have the presence of mind to try to start raining blows down in him after recovering from the initial shock!!!

Question! What would the reaction had been, and punishment dished out to Cisse, if he lamped Evans and knocked him clean out??? I would suggest that if a player is spat on he has the right, without punishment, to retaliate with a punch or two! The rage that I would be in, even on a football pitch, I could not be held accountable for my actions! So I would feel a little aggrieved if I was banned for a number of matches just for socking a dirty bastard on the mush!

I live in a flat on the 17th floor
and there's nothing to, so when I get bored
I shout "Coo-ee!" to the passers-by
when they look up, I gob in their eye!

Gob on you...

Johnny Evans did it first mate. I don't think Northern Irish culture is all that removed from ours.
Watching it back - Johnny Evans SPAT but not "At" Cisse (IMO) - I think Evans was just doing what is done by all footballers - and that Cisse was on the ground near to that - I don't believe he was spitting at him - just an opinion though

He spat in his direction mate, he might not have been aiming for him but even if not he's spat towards him which is a huge disrespect in itself.
