I'm working on there at the minute its on an old derelict shed on stilts 20 meters out in the Humber. They are already costing in the region of £2m to demolish I don't think the contractor will fancy adding to the costs by saving it I'm afraid. It has caused a stir though and there's a great story about it regarding a skipper nursing a seagul back to health.
Couldn't they stick it on a door on a warehouse down the Fruit Market (when it's done up). Really piss poor drawings made out to be works of art is their thing, isn't it?
Who started this campaign? They've got far too much time on their hands if you ask me. I might go down there tonight with me crow bar, yank the bastard down and hoy it in the Humber.
It seems it was painted by Captain Len Rood(Pongo) and Chief Engineer Gordon Mason, in the 60's. He was a good artist was Pongo.
Not very good at saving bits of our heritage are we? Chuck it in Drapers Scrap Yard alongside bits of Craven Park, Boulevard, Boothferry Park, Original Circle, Cricket Pavilion, the Humber Paddle Steamers, thousands of trawlers, the blue box at station, statues of Ebenezar Cobb Morley, Amy Johnson's old aeroplanes, Mick Ronson's old guitars etc etc
