We're owed one over you just as we were owed one in a big game against a top side, away from home. If the players come in with the same mind-set we had against City, to really want to prove themselves and get things right, with the proper tactics, then I think we will win this game, and could even dominate the game and win something like 3-1. It all depends, if we go out and play the Arsenal way, we will probably end up not winning, would be nice though if we could play the Arsenal way and end up winning and playing you off the park as Barca often did at Madrid, unlikely though. . We will need proper tactics, allow you to play this time, make you find chances, space, and then when the opportunity rises, which it will, we do what we have to do on the counter.
That would be some boring match and you'd have to be patient. You can't play that way anyway and you'll be an easy match for LVG trust me. Remember Spain in the WC ? Great match in prospect. You have a psychological block with United and I can't see it ending in the Q/F of the FA cup...
To be fair, they've lost once and drawn 4 times in the last 19 matches (winning 14 obviously). They may have been lucky tonight but it can't just be down to luck that they're getting these results. It's just sheer desire and determination. And we need to match theirs at Old Trafford.
I think this United hoodoo has to end sometime. I'm not overly concerned about playing them away anymore... little pressure on us.. they need the positive result more. We should be content to sit a bit deeper, control the game as we did vs City and hit them on the break. If we play a tactical game it should be a closer game than many expect. Try to hold them to a draw and take them back to the Emirates, draw or beat them there.
Who cares if it's boring, it's effective, and as for being 'easy' for LVG, yes because we've already seen how easy it's been for LVG to break teams down, United have struggled in many games this season to break teams down and create chances. The mental block will end, and then everybody can finally shut up about it, nothing goes on forever.
Interestingly enough both of us are going for history, we're both tied on having the most cup wins, 11, so if either of us win the trophy, history will be made.
The one thing which has really ground my gears over the last 2 seasons is that we've still been turned over by United. I mean....come on. In the Fergie years I could almost forgive it as they were a force and he was an evil mind controlling sheister but the last 2 years?! I repeat, cooooome ooooon! They've been utter gash and we still allow ourselves to get turned over. It both sickens and embarrasses me! However, much in the same way I get optimistic every transfer window (despite remembering all the others), I find myself very much looking forward to this. I mean, we can't keep losing to a team that plays this bad can we...? Can we?! Probabaly.
The last 2 seasons at home have been the worse, last season's 0-0 was atrocious, how we played and were satisfied with a bloody draw, and then when we lost this season, which I don't know how in the **** we were capable of losing.
TBH if we don't win it, I'd like Liverpool to win it, a nice going away present for Gerrard, who I do respect a lot as a player, real pity he never got the chance to win the EPL, should have won it in 2009 and last year.
A game that both sets of fans will truly be excited for, not a bad one for the neutral either. Don't expect us to play like we did against Preston!
I'm with you on this one. We clearly have a superior team and individual players yet we are incapable of beating these chumps. If we lose to them in the FA cup then I can only think that we have a serious mental block against them. I can imagine it now, we are beating the breaks off them and then they pull off a wish upon a star type hoof up field and score. I really hope they don't pull off any fluky ****e and we put away like the trash they are.
Have you checked the current league standings? In usually a good indicator. The gereral rule of thumb is the lower tge number on the left, the better the side.
