Norwich fan in peace. I, like many City fans, have a soft spot for Sunderland and I have to say I'm a little bit worried by some of the signings.
Westwood is a good young keeper and should serve you well and I won't comment on the Korean bloke as I know nothing about him. However the six mention in the original post are cause for concern.
Larssen, Vaughn and Gardener all played for clubs that were relegated, yes they were the better players at those clubs, but I'd still be worried that they weren't good enough last year and now they're that little bit older.
Brown and O'Shea are on the slide. O'Shea never fulfilled his potential due to never really have a specialist position and Brown is in my opinion one of the most over-rated players I've ever seen. He's a good solid player but if he wasn't at Man Utd I don't think he'd ever have played for England or lasted this long in the Premier League.
Wickham is a great prospect, but nothing more than that at the moment. He wasn't bad at championship level and had good games and bad games and will certainly be a star in the future, but at the moment he's probably a championship squad player at best. Even the Ipswich fans were saying he wasn't good enough and shouldn't have won the Football League young player of the year last year.
However I do hope Sunderland do well next season (with the exception of two games) and I hope every word I've just typed is proved wrong.
With all due respect (and i say this as a lad who is delighted to see Norwich back in the big league
), i think that you'll gather the Sunderland fans are pretty ****ing happy with the aquisitions, thanks for your concern, but i think we'll be ok.
