As we have played West Ham twice, it doesn't suit us that Carroll is injured....unless it means they park the bus against any of our rivals they still have to play.
Cheers. So about half the time..? Just looked it up. He went on loan to WHU in August 2012 for a season, but made it permanent in June 2013. In that loan time he was out injured for 4 months, and he signed during his injury and missed pre-season, being out for a further 6 months. In July 2014 he was out for 4 months, so missed most of last pre-season and the start of this one. He's missed the odd match here and there due to odd tweaks and things, and now he's out again. By the time he returns he'll have been injured for WHU longer than he has played. Wonder how he copes..? Bet the umpteen grand a week helps.
Got their GK back though...would Maya have escaped a red card if he'd dived on the ball? Outside the area, Adrian became an outfield player. Are they saying a yellow card was the correct decision?
I think they are saying "not a clear goal scoring opportunity" I can see that. A defender was there and Mane would have been going away from goal (as in the wrong direction). Most instances of a keeper being sent off for handling outside the area are when the player is through 1 v 1. I sort of see this verdict.
Personally when the keeper is out of his own box I think anywhere within 50 yards is a clear goal scoring opportunity.
From the perspective of fair-for-all. I think Adrian's red card should have stood. From Saints perspective I'm glad it was overturned. Mind you, Jaaskelainen is a damned good 2nd keeper, so the advantage is tiny.
When I saw the replay of incident, I though it was obvious that Mane was pulling Adrian by the shoulder.
Just been looking at a replay rather fuzzy, from a different angle, it shows Adrian kicking out at Mane, then hitting him on the leg with his hand, it could have been a penalty first before the handling offence, and although not too clear Sadio appears to put his hand on the GK to avoid treading on him? Was the decision completely rescinded or downgraded to a yellow?
Coming back to this again because it's still bugging me, finally found a video to be able to rewatch the incident. please log in to view this image Wow.
Crikey. I think I might try and find the 90 minutes to have a look at that in detail. That's shocking. EDIT: Whole match found for download: http://www.footballorgin.com/2015/02/premier-league-2014-2015-southampton-v_12.html
Let's face it, the refereeing was appalling on the night so why are we surprised the FA have compounded Pawsons cock ups
Doesn't affect us now as I doubt they will pass us and they could do us a favour by winning some games.
