I said 7th or better would be a great season and I stand by it, as it's an improvement on last season. Also, given the fact that we went into last night's game without a full bench, could we sustain a European campaign as well?

Adam Blackmore found Adrian's dismissal highly amusing. <laugh>

If we qualified for CL, we'd have the money to acquire the depth to sustain it; if we qualify for Europey, we're either going to have to play the U21s in that competition or get crushed by the sheer weight of games.

Absolutely disagree with you. The referee did not have an "alright game." He was appalling and got dozens of obvious decisions wrong, way before the end.

If you've got Saints Player you MUST watch the extended highlights of the game at the moment of Adrian's red card. We had a couple of "diddly dees" from Merrington which set off Blackmore. He was just pissing himself laughing and it was hilarious. If you haven't got Saints Player, get a free trial because you just can't miss that moment of commentary gold.

During the QPR game, when Maya dropped a shoulder to glide past Philips with the ball, Blackmore mentioned that he'd almost done a diddly dee, which had them both giggling [Maya did another almost diddly dee later too]. :D

I'd been saving them for later, but I shall watch the WHU extended highlights now.

Neither side deserved anything out of the game, against 11, against 10 against 9 you didn't look particularly dangerous at anytime, all you really did was hoof it. Adrians RC was just, doh!, though most WH fans have been waiting for something like that to happen, it's the weak part of his game. Shame neither side could get all 3 points I don;t really think 1 each does either of us much of a favour.
Unlike trixter I hope you make it to the CL, you doing so may give belief to other clubs who aren't the media's darlings.

as to the ref, yeah, a bit of a joke, but the injury time was fair, it's just unfortunate for Southampton that they had already given half of the ten minutes to Man Utd on Sunday when they were 1-0 down.

The injury time was NOT fair. Nowhere near fair. He didn't take into account West Ham's ridiculous time wasting at all.

Cant say I agree with all your comments but appreciate you putting forward a "fairish" opposing opinion (unlike your brother in arms, Trixter). Thought the ref was a total joke & heard Graham Poll say he's known for being very weak, which I'm certain helped you lot, more than us.

I'm just amazed that the main grievance with the ref was injury time and not the fact Carlton Cole wasn't sent off for kicking Maya in the face at standing level and drawing blood about an inch below the eye, he could have blinded him - and that isn't a Fergie 'He could've killed him' exaggeration.

Agreed on that. Just some things are out of our control though.

He's a walking injury list, that one. Perhaps walking is the wrong word. Hobbling..! Maybe Allardyce hurried him back, who knows..? Apparently, Carroll had passed all of WHU's tests and he was good to go. Personally, I think he might be one of those players whose power is too much for their frame. If he had been out for another month the result would probably have been the same.

To be fair he could have given half an hour and we still probably wouldn't score.

Andy Carroll has now been out injured for 1yr 3 months and 2 weeks since he joined West Ham in 2012. I posted this in the Prem thread. But as you are talking about it here.
