I love that UIR thinks he's overachieved
I said you can spin it anyway.
65 injuries and starting 3 weeks before the season started suggests to have us in 3rd after finishing 7th last season is overachieving.
Spending the money we did however, suggests we are not.
The reality is we about par right now. No better or worse than we should be.

Correct, you are on par. You definitely are not overachieving though. There are factors that support how poorly Moyes did just as the amount of injuries you've had support LVG.
Any argument that he's over-achieving is clearly piffle. At best you can say he's where he should be and that's stretching things. This is Manchester United FFS.
But I thought they finished 7th ALL because of Moyes and how **** he was and it was all his fault and not the players who were all awesome!!!
Surely with a tactical genius like LvG and £150m spent they should be romping the league no?

I very much doubt it.
Obviously not but for the transfer values and salaries of that squad it shouldn't be a choice of one or the other.
We spent 150million.
That bought us 6 players.
How many players have been sold, left or retired? Far more. Do these have no impact or is the money argument another that has no basis in the grandscheme?
Oh and it isnt a choice for the club. Results win all day every day over performance. Results pay the bills.
Imagine being sacked for poor football. Only Chelsea would do that and remember how that worked out...
And those six have, overall, been a poor use of £150m thus far. It's part of the manager's remit to get the best out of players and he's evidently not doing that.
Yes, players have left, but of nowhere near the value or salary of those brought in.
You say results win over performance but why can't he do both (he's barely doing either)? All the comparable sides do including Chelsea.

Sounds drastic and it would take a few years to happen but **** football to secure top four won't bring in 75k crowds forever.
Right now the end justifies the means as we're third and do need to get back into Europe.

While none were great last season, each ate leaders and had a massive influence on the team. So while they were worth very little in monetary values, to lose the 4 most influential players at the club in one window was a massive loss.
Also how is he barely doing either? Hes quite obviously getting results. Getting results that many of these so called better sides simply are not getting.

Only Evra from that list and arguably Vidic was significant. Ferdinand had been a liability for years and Giggs was decent but nothing special.
On the flip side, do you think Van Gaal would be doing considerably better with those four still playing?
