He said this on TALKsport this afternoon - ''Michael Owen is too good to die in a plane crash'' What a vile c(u)nt he is, he didn't need to say that, the twat, he should be sacked from TALKsport.
So I take it that you are linking that to Munich? What was the conversation about it seems a strange thing to say? I can't see him being so daft as to mock the Munich disaster on live radio.
Would really need the context in which it was said to judge that remark really. If it was, "Michael Owen moved to Manchester United, but he is far too good to die in a plane crash" then I could understand the rage But if he said something like "Michael Owen flys RyanAir? He should be careful, he is far too good to die in a plane crash" then no...... Plane crashes existed before Munich you know, there were many before and many since.... Were United mentioned or implicated in the conversation in anyway, or do you just equate any mention of plane crashes with the one United had 60 odd years ago? As Gonz said, it would be career suicide for him to mock Munich live on Talksport, so unless he has had a few jars before work or completely lost his senses, then i have a hard time believing there is any Munich link and its just Matth talkin bollocks as usual. If it is found to be different, i will of course apologise....

No it's not you're saying that what Murphy said was related to Munich (I think) that's a terrible thing to accuse someone of if what he has said had nothing to do with the disaster. You obviously listened to the show seeing as you've posted this and would therefore know the context that the quote was said in? So how did this quote happen and how is it related to Munich?
What high horse you berk? I am just asking for the context of what he said before condemning the man. Just pointing out that any time anyone talks about a plane crash, they may not be talking about Munich. If he spoke of Manchester United in anyway in the sentence, then yes, that would be appalling.....
He is an RS what do we expect? What he said was crass, even if he didn't make a direct reference to Munich. He was on about he and other football players feared crashing in a plane during a bad storm and how the plane was not going to crash because MO was on it. I can see him apologising because no one should make joking or insensitive remarks about tragedies.
I honestly didn't know what the point he was trying to make. it was not funny (as in a joke) nor did he want to make a serious point. Or even saying something relevant. I think he realised it was the Munich anniversary and he wanted to cause a stir.
I'm sorry but how is that related to Munich? He's clearly not referring to Munich at all but suggesting that Owen was superhuman and to good to die, it's a silly joke and not even crass. If he had related this to Man Utd in any way then it could be seen as insensitive but to try and pin this on him is crass in itself.
After reading the article matth posted tho, seeing as it is the anniversairy of Munich tomorrow, which I was unaware of, he probably should have avoided plane crash talk.....probably just a thoughtless comment so an apology will probably be given. But I agree with Gonzo, trying to put any sort of Munich theme on this is ridiculous.
He was probably unaware of it himself, insensitive? Maybe but c'mon it ridiculous to try and assassinate a persons character like this.
I can see it is borderline and different people are going to have different views. I don't like discussing tragedies. So I won't say anything further on it.
That's fair enough, I'll also stay out of this as I don't want to get into an argument about it. IMO close the thread there's no need for it and it's insensitive in itself.
Here it is, the actual conversation. You can listen to it. http://mufclatest.com/former-liverp...tive-comment-about-plane-crash-live-on-radio/ Absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Munich at all. It probably never occurred to him, and why would it?
Why can't people talk about tragedies by the way? This isn't the Liverpool board, where sensible adult conversation and the mere mention of certain words begging with M simply are not allowed. **** that.
