This is a good reason to not value Peter Swan's view on anything related to Hull City, does he think we still play in Division 3?! http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/don-...1-Peter-Swan/story-25854721-detail/story.html Why not put Maguire and Dawson upfront, then Elmo in goal, play Fig on the right wing, and McShane on the left wing?
I know they have, but as I said we do not play in Division 3 any more. It would be a good suggestion if you are playing FIFA, but you can't just stick a tall guy and a guy with pace upfront in the Premier League, stupid suggestion.
Might be worth ten minutes at the end of a game as a last resort but to start him up front would be just mental. It'd be akin to starting a left back on the bench, a right back at left back and a central midfielder at right back. Oh hang on....
Stupid I may be, however at the moment we couldn't possibly do any worse than letting Maguire have a go up front, at least you'd be certain that he'd **** a few defenders up unlike the lightweight options that we have been playing up there, and that in itself would be entertaining.
We need to hit West Ham on the counter attack, playing a similar line up as we did against Sunderland may work, Aluko and Ramirez upfront. It's not ideal, but it's the best we can do considering the injuries we have. I can see this being a 0-0 I'm afraid, at least I'm not Peter Swan who said that our game against West Brom would have "lots of goals" and be first on match of the day.
I don't think it's the stupidest thing he's said. We have no strikers and we've seen how poor we look with two weak wingers up front. Maybe a big centre half would be more effective.
All Peter Swan was bothered about as a player was drinking thats why he was pushed up front as a striker as he was too bombed out to think about what he was doing, Maguire is a centre-half not a striker, a step up to midfield is possible in the future
Everyone is overlooking the fact that Maguire is probably our best option to combat Andy Carroll, he should start for me at CB.
In these difficult times all options are worth considering, stranger things have happened and succeeded.
That is correct, however in our situation either one of them will start on Sunday, probably more likely to be Aluko and Brady upfront maybe, but who knows, TWT.
Any of our older members remember the Wendies chucking hapless centre back Paul Warhurst up front cos they had no fit strikers and he went on to smash something like 11 goals in 10 games and earn an England call-up as a striker? It was around the time of the Premier League launch, so 92-ish. edit - I just checked and he scored 12 in 12 and did earn a call-up but missed his England debut cos of injury. How the **** can I remember these useless bits of info but I havent got an effin' clue what i had for dinner last night?
Well anyone who listens to some of his comments will know that what Mr Swan knows about football you could write on the back of a stamp. Nuff said
I remember when we signed Jack Hobbs permanently and he said he didn't think he was good enough for the Championship. Three months later he's the best centre half in the league according to Swanny.
I was one of the people saying Harry up front! But it was in the last 20 mins of a game we were maybe chasing! Just to spice things up a bit. But deffo not as starter.
I remember Swanny suggesting we should look to concede corners instead of throw ins when we was playing at Stoke once due to Delaps long throw !!
