I think the majority of new(ish) all seater stadiums have trouble generating an atmosphere! Modern football has drained the atmosphere out of stadiums! I believe a large section of the passionate fans (who a large percentage would be working class) have been priced out of going! The passionate supporter who would have stood in the Fullwell End paying £6 to get in and kicking up a storm is a dying breed! Those type would rather go to away matches where the atmosphere is more intense! A team who by and large been awful to watch for about 5 years is always gonna struggle to raise an atmosphere under the circumstances! I can just see the problem getting worse, not only at Sunderland but for alot of teams who have no chance of success other than to avoid relegation!! Different type of supporters nowadays, a new generation who sit and expect to be entertained, who were not about when we were losing to Gillingham in the playoffs and getting relegated to the third tier!
He's ****ing fuming mate..Cops actually threatened to arrest him all because someone had reported that he had used bad language..
Sorry mate, but the early years of the Sol, the atmosphere was fantastic, which was probably why our home results were bloody good.
Why do you always go on about our home support? you boring people to death. why don't you talk about the ****ing rubbish style of play or the different times we live in.
Because support is the one ****ing thing we can give at matches you ****ing arse...Is that clear enough for you..If i could influence our style of play and ****ing put my boots on..
The early years would have had the many veterans from the Roker Park days! Plus the supporters around that time would have been more entertained! I dont go to the matches (cant afford it and also it would not be good for my health even if i could!) but even in the days when we were getting relegated with record low points I cant remember feeling so disillusioned as i have a times over the last 5 years! We've been alot ****ter in the past, its been the most successful team we have had in my lifetime! I cant explain why I feel like this! Maybe its the fact that at times the players dont seem to give a **** whilst picking up undeservedly huge paypackets! In the Quinn and Phillips days they were still handsomly payed but they seem to bloody care as well! Players, even then, seemed more down to earth than they are now! Players you could say made you feel proud that they played for your team! Even when some of them were **** they still seemed to care! I dont feel proud of the players who represent us now! I'm an armchair supporter who feels like this.....maybe this attitude is the same inside the stadium! I agree with you though, why anybody would feel like I do but still go to the ground and sit in silence is beyond me!
If only we could get off to a flyer at the start of the season! Or at least a reasonable start! Then the support would lift the players then the players will lift the supporters! I think the supporters probably have a nervous silence about them! Resigned to the fact its gonna be a struggle, which rubs off on the players, which rubs off on the supporters! I think things have been pretty dire for so long its hard for the players and supporters to lift eachother out of the rut!
At least palace fans have something to shout about. we the most boring team in the league for **** sake.
Sorry mate, but in the early years of Sol, our home results were bloody good, and the team was worth a damn, which was probably why the atmosphere was fantastic. As you say, chicken and egg, it's just I think you've got it the wrong way round. The guys in that ground make their effort Monday to Friday in earning the entrance money. Once they've made that initial effort, it's right and proper to expect guys on a year's wages per week to deliver value for money. The correct sequence is this : 1) Guys work their balls off to pay at the turnstiles/season cards, etc. 2) The players show some effort and quality not to be seen in Sunday League for free. 3) The crowd is pleased with the product and starts to shout and sing. Don't let's get confused here. Your brother was out of order in telling other people how to feel. They'd paid as much as he had, after all, and were entitled to their opinion of the over-paid freeloaders who were throwing a week's work in their faces.
They give **** all for most of the season tho. look at the chelsea game, the players give it there all & the fans got behind them. all MRRAWHITE bangs on about it home support. the prick should no times has change & the style of play is the most boring of all time.
Agreed. Its all our fault as fans who pay a large chunk of their income in coming to games, not the players who struggle on tens of thousands a week.
