I had to get another car at the begining of December as my old Peugeot 106 that I have had for around 13 years need nearly £800 to get it through the M.O,T. I have had it since it was a year old. I found a beautiful dark blue 1998 Toyota Corolla 1.6 full service history last service 2000 miles ago Cam Belt replaced 9000 miles ago with only 64000 miles on the clock excellent body work and imaculate inside and out with a M.O.T until June the 30th. I thought it was a real bargin with the work done. It has turned out to be as every bit as a good as I expected however I did not expect it to more than likely written off with in 1 month after someone drove into the side of it on Tuesday ! Gutted

I feel your pain. Owning a car (especially on a budget) is a constant battle. I recently bought a little Suzuki Alto automatic, great car! However, the driver side window had broken, so I'll have to sort that before mot in 6 months. Also, the lights switch has lost its click, s o not sure what the legal implications of that are! Mechanically though, it's immaculate, so I can't really complain.

Apparently there's no where it says you have to grow a stupid beard either.

I have always wondered why an omnipotent being with a whole Universe to take care of should actually care about what you wear or eat. The answer (even accepting the existence of an omnipotent being) is that human beings (usually male) can't resist interfering in other people's lives.

P.s. the forbidding of the eating of pork actually makes sense as it is the likeliest meat to carry tapeworms (I was even taught that in fifties Britain).

My brother's car was written off by a loony as he drove home from the garage having picked up his newly repaired car from a previous accident. On the other hand, we had a damaged bonnet from a prang that was all my husband's fault when somebody else hit us...got nice new bonnet...result!

Glad you are okay, Marv.

The 2 Paris fugitives have taken hostages near CDG airport. An earlier report said they had a rocket launcher so this may have been their secondary target.

I am reminded of a play I saw years ago when a Jewish character said, 'I dream that one day all the Arabs will be gone, no suffering or bloodshed...just empty camels.'

SECOND

Cheers Fran. A least I now know what type of car I want to get next I loved it best car I ever had. Mind you I have only had a Triumph Acclaim a Ford Sierra a Audi 80 the Peugeot 106 and now the Toyota Corolla. Believe it or not the Triumph Acclaim was probably my second favourite very rarely let me down although I think it was joint second favourite with the 106 which I had thirteen fairly reliable years'

Your first car is always your favourite. That's why my favourite car was my Rover metro GS.

I'm still in shock from the time someone keyed my car last summer. Little scumbags.

****. The gun man that killed the police women yesterday has taken a hostage in a Grocery shop in Eastern Paris. Before he entered he shot to people injuring them.

So France now has two hostage situations going on at the same time.

Edit: There is believed to be 5 hostages in the Grocery hostage sitaution including women and children.

Yes thank you both me and the other driver thankfully. Also the other drivers insurance company has said that the other driver has amitted full responsability.
Good news, glad all of you are ok.

2 people now reported dead in the hostage taking in Eastern Paris.

Can't say that's the case with me. My first car was a Mini, which was great. I loved it, but I have to say that it was superseded in my affections by my SAAB 900 Turbo 16 and a Fiat Coupe 2.0 many years later. Now I don't own a car at all. Case of seen it, done it.

Cooper?

Kudos on the other two, also.

My only car wreck was last summer, a hire car in America, so I got the full crashing experience without the effort of having to buy a new car.
