A large part of Islam is based around the Hadith, which is (I think) "the traditions of the prophet" - so they aren't in the Quran itself; they are a collection of oral history that was set down some time after his death. Some Muslims reject the Hadith completely, some partly and some accept it as a crucial part of their religion. Predictably amd sadly, Sunnis and Shias have different versions of the Hadith, another area of strife between them.

Not sure but it's more than likely that it's the Hadith that forbids portraying not just Mohammed but any representative art (hence the preponderance of fancy tiling rather than pictures as decoration in much of the Muslim world).

They may not like modern life, but if you are not willing to join in and progress you get left behind. And then they will get even more pissed off.

I read somewhere that more books are translated into Spanish every year than have ever been translated into Arabic. If that's true, it explains apart of the utter isolation of much of the Arab world. And it's tragic because Islam used to be associated with openness, learning and scientific knowledge - Algebra was an Arabic invention, for heaven's sake.

Just had my first and last taste of soya milk....disgusting. Sweet, vanilla taste. Rather drink tea and coffee black or...revolutionary idea...use cow's milk.

What I'm dreading is the moment a professional footballer appears who was born in the 21st century...won't be long now.

As someone who pretty much has no choice but to use dairy substitutes I can tell you they vary hugely. Almond or hemp milk is the best non-dairy milk I've found so far, didn't care for the weird thickness of soy milk. Chocolate soy milk on the other hand, is bloody marvelous.

If you want a real displeasure get yourself some unsweetened rice milk. :(

There are some strange choices of milk available here, I use the UHT long life milk (at least i think that's what it is), I found the last time I went back to the UK i was unable to stomach the fresh milk back there.
Some odd choices of flavoured milk available like nut or red bean. You find red bean paste in many things that you expect to have a strawberry filling, the difference in taste is a let down. An odd choice (not mine) of a snack is small packs of peas, you can also find pea flavoured ice cream.

I'm very lucky as I can eat everything I want to...apart from not having too much raw onion (as it strangely makes me giddy). Now I am older I avoid too much red meat, wine and chocolate because of indigestion (so not an allergy problem).

I keep getting left with soya milk after visits from my son's GF, so I thought I'd try in in porridge...too sickly even without adding sugar. Strangely it also boiled over in the microwave, so behaves differently as well as tasting different.

It isn't natural to drink milk past infancy, but most people can. I understand the Japanese are particularly lactose intolerant. If lactose intolerant, don't drink skimmed milk as it contains proportionally more lactose (as the fat has been removed). I have no problem with milk, but always felt sick when I had tea at a friend's house...discovered she was using skimmed milk.

I had to get another car at the begining of December as my old Peugeot 106 that I have had for around 13 years need nearly £800 to get it through the M.O,T. I have had it since it was a year old. I found a beautiful dark blue 1998 Toyota Corolla 1.6 full service history last service 2000 miles ago Cam Belt replaced 9000 miles ago with only 64000 miles on the clock excellent body work and imaculate inside and out with a M.O.T until June the 30th. I thought it was a real bargin with the work done. It has turned out to be as every bit as a good as I expected however I did not expect it to more than likely written off with in 1 month after someone drove into the side of it on Tuesday !
