I don't understand the Cavani rumours, we already have two CFs and an array of attacking forwards. But saying that I wouldn't say no...
I'd love Cavani to sign - as despite how much I like Podolski, Cavani would be a massive upgrade. But I can't see Wenger signing a CB a DM and Cavani in Jan. Plus I can't see why PSG would want to sell a star player halfway through the season.
Surely the links to cavani are a load of bollocks made up by the media to sell papers/get hits on their websites. You would imagine PSG would want at least £40million (probably more) but yet some papers are reporting we only have £20 million to spend this window. The focus has to be on getting a centre back and a defensive midfielder. No more attacking players should be signed until at least the summer.
Wenger said, when asked to name where he would look to strengthen his squad in January. “If you look at the number of games some players played and the injuries we have with Wilshere, Ramsey and Arteta, we are a bit short at the moment in midfield,” Does this open up a move for a DM? Reports are coming back that Ramsey's recovery is slower than expected and we know that Wilshere is out for the majority and Arteta's return is still uncertain. Our midfield is clearly unbalanced and Flamini isn't the answer for us. If we can get suitable cover in those two defensive positions - CB and DM, then we will be a lot more stronger over the course of the season. This may also stop our inconsistent season.
Carvalho rumours abound. 25m for a 22 year old DM who can play CB & is 6'2". Sounds like a good idea. Release Flamini at the end of the season and let Arteta fade as Coquelin and Carvalho take over?
Carvalho rumours are hotting up. Daily Fail reckons we've tabled a £20m bid and others are reporting us finalising bids of between £20m-£25m for the player. Would be just the sort of addition this squad needs. He can play CB too so that would be a huge bonus. We can't rely on Flamini and Arteta for much longer in DM, an injury to Flamini now and we're relying on Coquelin, who isn't of the required standard in my opinion.

Carvalho would be perfect for us. Tall, powerful and can play as a DM or Box to Box. In fact we have been crying out for this kind of player for a long time. In both the Saints and Stoke losses we were overpowered in midfield. Carvalho would add a better balance to the team. However... I remain sceptical. Also Cavani??..This one seems even less likely. He's going to cost a fortune and is 29 years old. However... As I've been saying for a few years now he would excel in the EPL. He's an aggressive, fiery, quick centre forward with World Class technical ability. To me I think his style would be very well suited to this league and I think he would score a lot of goals. Wellbeck has good potentiel and Giroud is a better player than most give him credit for but.. Cavan is one a completely different level.
Why didn't we wait until after Hull game as we could have had Pod on bench and bring him on if we need to or bring him on so he can say goodbye. Makes no sense letting him go today as no Giroud and Welbeck is a doubt and Campbell is not good enough and sonogoalsinleague is off too on loan so we only have Sanchez ....... Oh I forgot that's all we have had all season so far ! time to act is now AW - so get world class striker to play alongside Sanches and in front of Ozil
I'd say the deal with Milan was already done earlier in the week, thus why he wasnt on the bench on Thursday (slight groin - BS)
Amen to that. Really great young player. I still think our need for a DM or powerful Box to Box midfielder should be our no.1 priority this January. Unfortunately I can't help but think Coquelin will be Wengers solution. Lars Bender Khedira R.Carvalho Luiz Gustavo Sissoko Chistoph Kramer Kondogbia would all do a fine job for us.
Even the name sounds beastly. It sounds like the big version of Drogba, and we know how beastly he is!
I assume you have the wrong Carvalho. You are after William not Ricardo? 37 year olds are not Wenger's style.
