Other than hitting Lallana with the ball and going in the net Fabhad another good game. That was probably his first mistake this season.

I admit I only saw the game on TV and that only gives part of the picture, but I thought Jazz was doing better than Taylor (who I don't much appreciate but think he's improved a lot in the last three games). Jazz Richards - Swansea boy - will never be accepted in Swansea ... it's been the rule for years. Too many give Taylor the benefit of the doubt (he's been coming back from injury for well over a year) but Richards is expected to play the perfect game as soon as he's given a couple of games. However, both he and Rangel are handicapped when Shelvey plays defensive mid field as he rarely offers a pass option. It also means whoever plays alongside him has double the work load. I have never been convinced by Jonjo's mainly hit and hope long balls and the very occasional bit of magic does not make up for the other 99%.
But last night's fiasco was all down to the manager ('he's still learning', is no excuse as he's making the same mistakes over and over again).
    1) trying to be clever with squad rotation - we are only in one tournament!
    2) team selection
    3) picking Shelvey after publicly telling the world he's too lazy ... what does that say to others in the team? Sit on my ****, act like a 2 year old and I'll get to play
    4) substitutions .. yet again not a scooby. Liverpool 1 up at half time from a goal that (again) came via out left back (although by no means all Taylor's fault) Monk's solution? Take off the right back.
    5) keeping Shelvey on the pitch

If this was a one off or an occasional but repeated blip I'd say, 'OK', but it's not. Our passing game has all but disappeared, we are not defending set pieces confidently, we are not strong enough to be Stoke, sub and team selection are baffling in most games. The commentator on the channel I watched made the comment, "Garry Monk was successful player in the lower leagues (something about 'he did play one game last season') and the way Swansea are playing he is falling back on those days. I'm very disappointed at the way they have approached the game.'
It was was said many times after the Hull and Villa games that if we played like we had against a half decent team we'd get hammered - Liverpool are a half decent team and we did get hammered. Thannk goodness we weren't playing a Chelsea or Man City!

If I didn't know any better, I could be forgiven for thinking that Monk & Brenda had done a deal at the bookies?

So you didn't notice his kicking then no? :D Oh wait you did, when he kicked it at Lallana.

Both keepers had 8 Irons for feet last night

Not from Swansea. But I disagree, Davies was regularly criticised and calls for Taylor to be 'given a chance to get his form back with a run in the team' were a constant for most of last season.

Ben was born in Neath and came through the club's junior set-up. That's a local boy to me!

Ben received nothing like the criticism that Jazz - or Taylor for that matter - has received this season? <cheers>

Ok,I'll take that on board.Maybe I am being over critical of Monk.
I just hope it hurts the players that Monk selected as much as it hurts us.
Put it right fellas at QPR.Get the passing and movement game going again.Show us you can do it.

Yes i saw the game from start to finish and what i saw was only one player trying with no striker to aim at. 3 times he had to take on the defence on his own because nobody was there. It's easy to make shelvey the scapegoat as he was on his own with no help from anyone. Ki should have started over leon with Leon coming off the bench if needed, and as for Bony he was nowhere to be seen up front where he should have been giving shelvey some needed help. you would think he was a defender the way his positioning was last night. I'm not saying for one minute we would have won as Liverpool were at their best and if they continue to play that way then Brendan is winning the war and his job will be safe.

You appear to be in a group of one in your assessment of Shelvey, not just on here but throughout the football world.

Shelvey was pretty bad. Never demanding possession, always pointing for teammates to pass to anyone other than him (the opposite of Leon and Ki). He doesn't shift from side to side with the play. There was one case where we had it on the right side and Shelvey had shuffled right, but the ball was spread along the back to Taylor, and Shelvey was still stood over the right side of the pitch. He'd barely moved. Leon then had to sprint past him to offer support to Taylor. He's never a defensive midfielder in a million years. He doesn't understand the role at all. He's too offensive on the ball. He's too lazy when we have the ball and he's too lazy when the opposition has the ball. Monk needs to realise that he's a great option as rotation for Siggy though - a wicked shot and a good attacking brain make him a good weapon up the pitch, as he showed against Hull. Anywhere in our own half with any kind of responsibility, he's a liability.

Liverpool were good value for their win, they made bony look ordinary and and why ??? he was nowhere to be seen and left his post up front and spent most of the game on the half way line. He is in the african cup mode im afraid just like when he was in the world cup mode and was not putting in a shift. Gomis should have played last night and not bony who is afraid of injury to be of any value for us.
