I think tonight your saw why we got rid of Shelvey.

He has real talent in creating chances and long rangers - he has a spark, but he is lazy, will get sent off and will have games where he makes the wrong decision and blasts it over the bar instead of a simple pass - inconsistent too.

I did think he was a good purchase for you guys though and I thought he would develop into a pretty decent Premiership midfielder.

He's wobbling now though that's for sure. He's risking upper championship standard.

I still think you should stick with him for the time being because the raw materials are there and he has attributes that a lot of standard premiership midfielders do not have.

Time is running out though it is true.

Ki needs to start with either Carroll or Britton . Shelvey needs to share minutes with Siggy , whether its starting or subbing . As long as we keep asking Shelvey to play where he cant and shouldnt , the unhappier everyone will be including him .If were not going to take the shackles off him and let him attack , sell him imo

Darren Pratley at Bolton is twice the player Shelvey could ever be, I'd sooner resurrect him back to the club than let Shelvey play another game in a Swansea shirt, the guy is a complete tool!...............<ok>

Sorry but I'd start playing Emnes more after tonights mess, at least he attacks a beats defenders, shelvey just falls over them. Routledge needs time on the bench.

Not an ounce of intelligence with Shelvey, he really deserved another red card tonight. Who was Captain of that shower tonight?

6 points from 9 is good, but the performances haven't been great?

Jazz Richards - not good enough

Shelvey - not fit and/or too lazy

    Dyer & Routs - disappointing

I disagree with you on Jazz. He played pretty well. We had a solid first half defensively and Jazz was a key part of that especially since Dyer was AWOL on his wing back.

I thought Fed showed his class today. His best game for us to date and he showed against some very difficult forwards just how good he is.

Fab .... ok he ****ed up on THE goal. However, he pulled off some saves that were absolutely out of this world.

Ki is worth his weight in gold.

Bony shouldn't be expected to win the ball in our half, start the move, make the cross and then get on the end of it to score. The other players have to contribute something.

Leon cannot play for two people .... a few years back maybe .... but now he can't do his job and Shelvey's. It's asking way too much. The only sub I understand was Leon's; by that time Leon was close to running on fumes. The guy worked harder than anyone on the field.

I think everybody else has beaten the Shelvey issue to a bloody pulp - there's nothing more to add except a bus ticket out of town.

Last nights performance spoke volumes about Monks managerial skills. We set up with the same old formation and Brendan countered it excellently. He put 5 men on Gylfi & Bony, put three men on our central defenders and Leon, told his wingers to bomb on as much as possible against our weak wingers and full backs and just ignored the ineffectual Shelvey.

Moreno was getting loads of space in the first half and he did nothing about it. Dyer couldn't be arsed to track back nor communicate to his defence for the first goal. Then Monk wastes a sub by bringing on Rangel.

Monk gives complete mixed signals to his players. Effectively blames the goal on Jazz by taking him off. Tells Shelvey in the press he needs to shape up yet he leaves him on for a full 90 when he's being a lazy twat. What is going on?

The game was screaming out for a change in formation not a simple change in personnel.

The only good point was that Gomis looked decent but I would be milking as much out of Bony until he goes to Africa. Play them both up front and Liverpools back three would have had more to contend with.

Definitely a game to forget as plenty of players on that pitch last night did nothing to deserve their place

Well, what a shambles that was. Got back at 3 am this morning and it was a long journey home for the few thousand loyal fans who braved the icy weather to watch that inept performance.
We were tortured for 90 mins and made Liverpool look like world beaters by our poor tactics, wrong team selection, and lack of any fight,as our manager watched on with his hands in his pockets.
A few things are now clear.Monk's public criticism of Shelvey had the opposite effect, instead of spurring him on to try and prove his worth,he was to play a major part in losing us the game with his lazy attitude. He needs to be shipped out asap,he showed clearly why Liverpool got rid,he's a loose cannon.
Jazz is never up to PL standard, but everybody except Monk knew that. Routledge and Dyer couldn't beat their way out of a paper bag,and were incapable of putting over a decent cross into the box to save their lives.
I don't think our full backs stopped one cross from their wingers throughout the match, preferring to stand too far off them for reasons unknown.
How are we going to manage next month without Ki,and why didn't he start last night? He has become a vital part of our team together with Bony, and we've also got the excellent Montero missing long term.
QPR players must have been rubbing their hands with glee watching that shambles last night. If we're not careful we'll get rolled over again on Thursday, and unfortunately I've pre booked to go there.

It's about knowing what you want and everyone knowing, agreeing and loving what they have to do. As voiced many times my biggest doubt with monks was he in depth does has as much knowledge basically on how to apply the free flowing fluid pass and move possesion based lovely football we are used to seeing.

I don't think I can completely blame Monk here. Yes, he should've changed formation, but when your wingers are playing as bad as that, it doesn't matter whether you're Real Madrid or Barnsley, you won't create chances and you'll leak chances and eventually goals. With a better set of wingers, we could've easily exposed the space behind Liverpool's wingers/full backs and then you're 3 on 3 with their back 3 with a midfield runner to join in Sigurdsson.

Dyer and Routledge, along with Shelvey, must either start producing or I'll happily drive them to whichever Championship/League 1 side will take them. Barrow should be straight into the team now, and Montero must be reinstated as soon as he's fit again. You look at a player like Chadli, who we missed out on, and he's what we need. Quick, skillful, but can also shoot and cross very well, and is a big unit with strength. There are more of these players out there on the continent for under £10m. We don't have to put up with negative wing play, poor crossing and mishit shots any longer.

Give over. Monk's still learning, and will get loads of time. Rightly so imo.

Agree, he was showed up last night tactically, and he'll need to figure a plan out sharpish as other teams will have taken note. I can see why he brought Rangel on as Moreno was destroying Jazz first half, but I feel Dyer was more at fault there for not helping the young lad. It's weird how poor Dyer & Routs have become since October...

I feel he left Shelvey on as he knew if he had hooked him the Kop would have destroyed him on his way off, and he wanted to give him the chance to redeem himself. I do feel though that Monk will now have lost patience with him and it may be a while before we see JonJo start a game. Only trouble is who's going to buy him off us for anywhere near the £5m?!

I honestly cannot believe that one or two are suggesting that Monk's position is under threat.
Bloody hell, should we sack him because we ain't in the top 4 <doh>

This is why Gylfi was quiet last night. Routs and Dyer made no attempt to create width and space for Gylfi who was then out marked by 3 Liverpool players.
Against QPR, I'd go Barrow and Emnes on the wing. A new winger is desperately needed in January (Januzai on loan?), as is a DM.

Just like Jonjo, since the England call up speculation. Believing their own press maybe. Those two showed last night just how good Montero is. We need to find another winger like him. Maybe time to give Barrow or Emnes a crack on the flanks. They can't do no worse.
