And regarding transfers, nothing will ever be resolved until we remove the friction within the committee. Rodgers vs Committee - James Pearce from the Echo admitted that Rodgers has players he doesn't want. Rodgers needs to remove himself from the process and work with what he has. There's far too much politics at this club.
What ever happened to the next great English hope moving from Derby to liverpool....that lanky blonde lad?
Bony has shown he is a fine player, I woul dhave prefered him over Lukaku, however every two years he will vanish for a month to play in ACON at the busy time of the season for clubs pushing at the top of the table/in Europe/looking at LC and FA cup runs
**** knows seems to be a new young English exciting talent going to be signing for us soon quite a lot. think its the business model of looking for youngsters and developing them, so its a free for all for the press to make ****e up.
You mean WIll Hughes - quality youngster but has stagnated a little. I think we're after Delli Ali instead.
Not quite what he said though... He then goes on to use the following 2 examples; . So basically he's saying that he's had to shop at a level lower than his ideal, not the same as saying he's had players bought for him that he didn't want. He's chosen them all.
So the committee had a shortlist of players that Rodgers didn't want... Rodgers did agree to sign them but you make it sound like he wanted them 100% - he didn't want them but he rather have someone in than nobody. He reluctantly agreed is the best way to put it.
So he had to pick from lists of players that didn't include players the club thought were too expensive or they couldn't afford? Welcome to the real world.
He's playing games via friends in the media here. So the committee has a shortlist and he says "I don't want any of them" are they going to say "you must choose one!, we insist that you buy a multi million pound player!" of course not. In an ideal world would he have wanted Di Maria and Falcao? Of course - but they were beyond the budget, which is all that piece really says. He was given the choice of available players within budget, and he made his choices. He's now trying to distance himself from the decision making process, as they have been dire. He's as culpable as the others who had a say in it, ultimately more so, as the final word lay with him.
i agree with tobes. all managers play games. the important point is when the guy breaks from the committee publicly and starts saying the players aint my choice he is saying sack the other guy. Therefore i would say there will be someone leaving lfc shortly... of that i have no question. finally tobes is also right. ideal world players are all very well but if you've got a list and its got lavezzi or balotelli and you end up with balotelli or how he even got on a list it is crazy crazy crazy. it is dire and the buck does stop at his door. all that matters in football is results. if lfc were in 4th now and in last 16 of cl..... well he cold argue its all fine couldn't he.. but he f'd it up. and he'll be sacked as a result
I'd take a punt at Sakho, Balotelli, Lambert, Can, Markovic. These all really struggle to get a game (When fit) except Balotelli, who is almost certainly a committee pick with BR's comments before he was signed. I'd also raise questions over Moreno and Manquillo and maybe Lallana, but Lallana really smacks of a Rodgers type signing. I'd certainly say that Borini, Allen, Lovren (due to the fact we went in twice for him) were all players Rodgers wanted at the time. Of course thats all opinion, but looking at all the transfers neither manager or committee has done a great job so far.
Its a wierd one. Moreno seems perfect for Rodgers but is not playing enough. Manquillo is younger and less experienced so we can be a bit more open there. I think Manquillo has played more than expected. I think Markovic is a comitee signing and a well scouted one. Can to. They fill holes that needed filling. But they are also young and new to this country. They need time to setle. I reckon Rodgers loves Lambert but Lambert was originally signed to be the alternative striker. The muscle man. Not first choice. When we signed Allen and Borini the transfer panel had not been set up yet. Rodgers and Ayre worked alone on those deals. I reckon the older signings are mainly Rodgers and the younger signings panel. I reckon Rodgers has issues with Balotelli, Sakho and Mignolet.
Bayern's Shaqiri is dying for playing time, while Guardiola isn't even getting him on as a sub in garbage time. That lucky f*cker has got Gotze and Muller on the bench too, so I predict Shaq's frustration to continue until a decent club comes along promising him starting 11. An experienced scoring winger ... bring him this way.
I think even someone like Podolski could be a short term solution in January. Pacy, intelligent movement and knows how to finish.
and versatile. I agree. Would Arsenal allow it? Nasri, Clichy, Van Persie, Cole. Of course they would. They would probably sell as Sanchez...
I would be all over Shaqiri. We were in for him in the summer apparently and they wanted to keep hold of him. If only we had signed him and not Lallana.
