It doesn't matter who you have up front if you don't give them the right service.

This has been said for a while but unfortunately we haven't done much about it. We still have a predictable ELMO crossing over and over and only whipping one good ball every 5 crosses.
I like Elmo but I've always thought by being the first name on the teamsheet in that position has limited us massively. He's completely one dimensional and so are we.

I would try to take a punt on Alejandro Ibanez from River Plate.

He was a regen the last time I played football manager, picked him up as an 18 year old for about £6m, and he went on to knock 30 goals in season after season, with either 19 or 20 in each of flair, dribbling, finishing, off the ball, acceleration, agility, pace and he had 16/17 first touch, composure, balance, technique.

Every time Hernandez plays we seem to get loads of crosses in and he's never on the end of any of them. Then people on here talk about a lack of service after the game. If we have Jelavic up front, the crosses get attacked properly. Aluko and Hernandez was never going to work, I called it before the game as I have done about 5 times now this season when we've started with a **** front line.

we don't need more players, we need FEWER players. jelavic and hernandez need to play as many games as possible together to gel. bruce needs to decide his best team and it'll be easier with less choice.

Because he's f**ing useless in the air and very skilled with his feet perhaps?

Jesus wept.

I just watched Stoke v Arsenal. 1st goal was scored by Crouch after he won two balls in the air.

3rd goal was scored by Walters after Crouch won the header and headed down to Walters.

I remain to be persuaded that Crouch is useless in the air and very skilled with his feet.

In fact I'd go as far as saying that Jesus was weeping at your silly comment!

100% Pete, we could have rooney and aguero upfront but if we don't give them the ball and create the chances they aren't scoring. We have the same debate every transfer window and the problem we need to solve is the midfield, Firstly getting some system and midfielders that can tackle and can support and on the odd occasion get past the strikers.
Other than been able to pass long balls to the wings in our own half im not sure what else hudd and jake offer

Realistically are we going to get better strikers than we have on our budget, and will AA allow it? How many more windows will he want to finance another striker

Stop ****ing about and sign a 6ft 3 inch mean ****. Sell whatever we have to fund that. Davies Aluko whoever and sign Deeney.

This really isnt rocket science.

Except for the fact that there's nothing to say that Deeney can do it in the Prem. I know you can say that about most players in the Championship but he just doesn't strike me as one who can and presumably if any Managers had thought he could, he'd be there already considering he's been around a good few seasons now.

A few managers have tried to bring him to the prem.

Watford ridiculous valuation got in the way.

Most top clubs choose a formation that the manager thinks will be successful and then they buy the players that suit that formation. They don't use a formation depending on the in form players and the opposition. England don't keep changing formations because they have a choice of players (OK not world beaters!) that fit their formation.

After a while there's a settled formation with a settled selection policy and it's usually more successful than chopping and changing.

I'm not saying that we can go out and buy fantastic players in every position but we've spent money in every outfield position.

Exactly. He'd be worth a punt for a lot of teams but not at the price quoted. If managers thought he'd have a good chance of being successful they would have paid the price.

I have always liked Crouch and believe he is a threat with feet and head; I would have had him in a heartbeat.

Based on what I saw in his first few games, and especially his debut against West Ham, Hernandez seemed to have the lot, that begs the question what the hell have we done with him to create the bag of useless forward we saw at Burnley away and yesterday

If Jelavic gets injured, we're ****ed, that's why we're in the relegation zone and if we don't address it in January, it's where we're likely to stay.

Jelavic being injured might be one reason we're in the relegation zone, another is that we've let in 21 goals. If Jel gets injured we play Sagbo.
