:emoticon-0101-sadsm:emoticon-0101-sadsm:emoticon-0101-sadsm4th is a must this season i dread to think what would happen if we didnt manage it, we need to be in it to attract the quality players and without it we may even lose the good uns we have ie sterling, couthino etc.

hope to god fsg stump up a hefty amount to buy a world class GOAL SCORER!! in january but even if we had the money would these players come.

Hope all works out in the end but im not holding my breath

I think Sterling will be off in the summer anyway, he could play at top European clubs if he wanted to. Sadly we are a level behind them.

we already tried to buy class (not even world class) over the last couple of years and they all told us to go f&&k ourselves. After they got done giggling.

we just have to pray we can keep hold of Sterling, Cout and Sturridge and wait out trying to see if more of the prospects we bought develop.

we could probably get £50 mill for Stirling and see if we can spunk that up the wall...

I feel sorry for Stirling. The lads 19 and all the hopes of the fans and club are on his shoulders. no wonder he's tired...

Well I doubt he'll be signing that new contract unless we qualify, he may stay another year if we dig our heels in like with Suarez but he wont be allowed to get too near his contract. TBH Him and Sturridge are the only top quality players we have anyway and everyone else can be replaced quite easily with someone better so it wouldn't be a disaster in terms of losing lots of quality players. Unfortunately we don't have any world class players left to lose.

It will be sad to see Gerrard lining up for Man City next year though.

It's not the end of the world if we don't make top 4 next season.

The reason I say this is because our team is very young but extremely talented. As long as we can keep them, they will continue to grow and develop - but the problem will be to keep them.

Manquillo, Sakho, Ilori, Moreno, Can, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Sturidge, Markovic are all 25 and under.

The annoying thing will be once we're out of the CL, we'll start to target the big names again and get rejected, like we last summer. If only we showed more ambition this time round when we actually had CL to offer.

I disagree that all our hope is on him.

All our hope is on Sturridge.

    Implications of no top 4:
    - Less attractive to potential signs
    - Less money for new signings (blessing in disguise?)
    - We get dubbed a CL fluke.

We put the focus on quantity because of squad depth.

I cant help but wonder where we'd be if we had prioritized quality instead.

The squad could just as likely be struggling to meet the demands due to a lack of depth.

Sterling???? He is not that good that a queue of top top clubs will form for him next June. He's well short of that level yet. He is a couple years from it

    Same for coutinho....

We tried to sign Sanchez as our high priority.

don't rewrite history because we got rejected.

I don't see what difference it will make really in terms of transfers. We had CL this summer and we lost the only World Class player we had (granted he probably would have left anyway), the players bought from Europe are potentials, we bought 3 players from the team that finished 8th <doh> and Balotelli who has been marched out of every club he's been at.

All these could have happened without CL. The only real difference will be decreased revenue which mean we'll struggle to land any 'Big' name transfers and will be stuck buying more potentials, players from lower place Prem teams whilst losing our best players to the big European clubs.

We only tried to sign Sanchez once Suarez was off. It was a last minute attempt to broker a deal.

Compare that to Arsenal who had been watching him for a while and Wenger personally meeting up with the player at the WC.

Rodgers was far too concerned with trying to get Lovren and Lallana all summer.

    what rubbish

we tried for a player and he went to a better destination

if we kept Suarez (which wasn't ever going to happen) maybe we'd have had a chance at Sanchez.

But we didnt and he went to a club with better prospects.

Lallana and Lovren's deals had nothing to do with it.

Arrogant post. The three Saints players you tapped up were a revelation last season. What Liverpools coaching staff do with them or how Brenda uses them says more about the back room staff than about three decent players now being made to look ordinary.

    Long may it continue.
