Young English talent? Sterling is already a full international with 98 games (Liverpool and England combined) under his belt at just 19 years of age. We've just seen Luke Shaw (a defender) go for £27m with less experience. We also saw Calum Chambers go for £16m with even less experience. Why wouldn't Sterling command a large fee considering the above, the fact that we don't want to sell AND he's got several years remaining on a contract he signed just last year!

The English tax is only paid by English clubs. No English club is going to pay anything close to £50mil for Steriling, if they pay that price they will be looking for a mid 20s finished article from Europe.

Gotta agree Sterling won't got for anything like £50m yet....far too young.
United got raped with Shaw, Shaw isn't half the player Sterling is, but still, too young.

If Sterling continues at the same rate of development till he is 21/22 then he will be world class, without doubt.
Thats an IF though.

We don't need to sell Sterling.

He's got what, another 3 or 4 years left on his contract? He won't go abroad so only clubs that could buy him are City & Chelsea so English tax would apply then <ok>

He's not good enough (yet) to play for Barca, Madrid, Bayern etc. Not done anything in Europe to catch their attention. Let's be honest, he was top class end of last year and firstf ew games this year but form has again dropped dramatically (with the rest of the team) in recent weeks.

Needs t work on his consistency, but he's 19 so can't be too harsh on him,

I never said we would sell him for £50m, I just questioned the laughing at the prospect. Simple fact is, he's under contract and we don't want to sell. therefore, he's not going anywhere unless someone coughs up. FSG have already shown they won't be pushed around.

Not many youngsters nail consistency, that only comes with age and experience <ok>
