That was then, this is now, they're a far better team now than you faced a couple of years ago.

Take a look at that team it was pretty good.

Real Madrid: Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Cannavaro (Van der Vaart 64), Pepe, Heinze, Robben (Marcelo 46), Lassana Diarra, Gago (Guti 77), Sneijder, Raul, Higuain.
Subs Not Used: Dudek, Saviola, Metzelder, Miguel Torres.

Gago, he was crap, Diarra likewise, Heinze was on the way down when he joined Real Madrid.

That is a decent team. Who was the Real manager at the time?

Agree with Matth here. Anyone that watched that side knew just how w@nk Gago and Diarra were. They had other decent players in the side but the trouble was them two "controlled" the midfield.

You have your players back and fit and I think you'll score against them. But with their attack I still think they'll win. The disadvantage for Liverpool though is that the first is at Anfield and the second is at the Bernabeu. Had it been the other way around, I think it would have been easier to qualify.

They're group games not a two legged knock out tie. Or did I misunderstand your post?

I agree the other way round would have been better. We have to attack them simple as that put them on the back foot we have nothing to lose and may catch them cold. Our famed tight defence can then hang on for the three points.

That, and Cannavaro's pace had completely gone by then. Gago and Diarra left him completely exposed and he had no pace to cover. Torres, Messi and even Del Piero tore him to shreds.

I think that was the only season in the last decade that Real conceded over 50 goals in La Liga, and they got knocked out of the CdR in the first round they played to lower league opposition.

Substitute Cannavaro for Rio and Gago + Diarra for Cleverley + Fellaini and they were basically Utd under Moyes <whistle>

This is similar to that Londons EC **** something or other trying to 'prove' United have never beaten a good Barcelona side. Ergo, a load of complete bollocks.

You won, nice one. It was a very good performance against a very good Real Madrid side.

Can't see a repeat on Wednesday though!

We'll smash them.
