Really? If the owner of Hitchcocks did a Mr Chu and came on here offered you to not eat for free at his restaurant but he would in fact pay you to do so would you really turn it down? I'd eat anywhere if they paid me.

As an aside, did Carmine (was it?) take up Mr Chu on his offer to go and visit again to see just how little work he does there?

The owner of Hitchcock's is also the fella behind the Kingston Swing lindy hop group, and formerly/occasionally one half of the rather fabulous Santa's Bugger Boyz, if anyone's interested. I gather they're playing at the special 30th anniversary musician's night at Adelphi on Monday.

Don't go to that new American diner, more expensive than most places on Princes/Newland Ave and the quality of the food is awful. Cheap meat, cheap chips, old oil, totally disappointed with it.

Yeah, Millhouse in Skidby was my vote in the previous thread. Never failed to be impressed every time I go.

One of the users on here was family to the owner I recall. I've heard the same though from work colleagues.

Went to Ciao on Chants Ave a couple of weeks ago.

No complaints at all. Good tucker, good service and reasonably priced.

It was just very bland and very school dinner like (well what school dinners use to be like, I gather there much better now), when I've spoken to a few people about this who have all been lots of times they all agreed but said it use to be a lot better.

I went a lot when it first changed from the Hull Food Restaurant to Hitchcocks as our crowd were friends with Bruce Hitchcock. It was only okay, even then to be fair. The atmosphere, staff and clientele were good though, and it made it a decent night. If it's worse now, then I'd be a bit put off to be fair.

Ok maybe over the top with the "if you paid me" but if i had voucher for free meal I wouldn't use it. If I was paid I could always use the money to go get a nice meal after

Just round the corner from me.

Pizzas there are fabulous, absolutely lovely.

The free glass of wine though, if offered, is best poured on the plants.

    Food though, cock on.

    Heh, good point.

Seriously the "free glass of sparkling wine" [if they still do it] tasted to me rather like Lambrini, which is possibly what it was. Or Country Manor or something.

Small gripe though, I do like the place.

If you want to go the fine dining route then take the trip out to Pipe & Glass. Only Michelin starred establishment in the East Riding and they don't give them out for nowt.

Was actually there for lunch this week. Venison tartar starter was excellent. Second best I've ever had. Only beaten by what I had in a two starred Michelin restaurant.
