Should Scotland be an Independent Country?

  • Yes

  • No

Results are only viewable after voting.
The SNP only count something like 25,000 members.

I think its naive to think that it's driven by the SNP or that the SNP will win the next elections. I don't even think the SNP will exist after independence. Loads of them have differing views.
You think they'll divide?

I can only see them getting stronger...

They get the chance they wanted then implode?

The yes campaign is driven by the snp.

As the majority, they raised the question of independence and are driving it home to a possible victory.

To say it not about the snp, at all, is in my opinion, naive.

Yes the SNP have enabled the whole thing but the tactics of the Establishment which you are so happy to support are to make it about the SNP and Salmond and then demonise him. That is they always do and it's worked pretty well for them for a 1000 years because they have always managed to find enough peasants to espouse their cause for them. These confused little people who have bought the crap all their lives are always the ones who allow the Establishment to continue.

Social media will end this.

I do, aye.

Lots of the SNP members have different stances on NATO, currency and loads of other issues, Pud. I think if its a Yes the ones with differing views will slowly split off.

There will be a party with a lot of current SNP members as the backbone, but they will have reduced in size I think. You'll probably see Labour, Conservatives and the SNP reformed after independence.

I agree.

interesting ...

Can't see them imploding straight away if what your sayings accurate.

A chance to run Scotland as they see fit will be too tempting.

I take your point that the SNP will likely be the short term beneficiaries and of course they and Salmond are pushing it but there is a whole raft of Non-SNP voters out there backing the Yes campaign.

I was specifically referencing the media coverage which completely ignores all those people and have made this solely about the SNP. I find that to be grossly misleading.

And from a recent visit to Scotland I got the impression that Labour have burnt a lot of bridges and I imagine that has only intensified since.

Some of the things the Yestapo have been getting up to are, to my mind, a bit questionable also. But when faced with a wall of fear mongering and misinformation, entirely understandable.

It's pretty obvious which side of the fence I would lie on if my opinion counted for anything so I've tried not to pass too much comment on the specific issues. But the way in which the debate is framed seems fair game for commentary. I am a bit of an idealist so the dirty tricks have stuck in the craw a little bit... Although it is maybe naive to expect a clean fight.

It wouldn't be an implosion though. The SNP would have got their one main goal. Those who are SNP but generally disagree with the SNP will splinter off but I can't see it being described as an implosion because I think all the parties will experience the same problem. Politicians will be jumping ship like **** in the event of independence and with elections in 2016 it will give many of them the chance to reinvent themselves.

After all that I think the parties that hold best together will probably be Labour and the Lib Dems to be honest, with the SNP and the conservatives being the main losers (Although, again, I don't think it will be seen that way.)

Labour have definitely burned at lot if bridges in Scotland...theyve handled it very badly.

Both sides have conducted dirty fights which had also annoyed me.

I do agree that the bbc have been very one sided in recent weeks.

This **** sums my opinion up quite well without being an total obnoxious dick about it.

I don't see it like that...

Snp will win in 2016 and stay together... riding on the coattails of independence

Maybe i was being naive in saying next 2 maybe 3 election wins for snp but in 2021 it will more than likely be a coalition government again.

I'm surprised they broadcast that <laugh> I think his general sentiments about the Government would be echoed by millions around the whole island.

I'll admit that they might be able to get into power as a coalition but I don't see them winning outright in 2016. Negotiations are gonna be crucial to public opinion and if the SNP members are felt to have cocked it up in anyway you'll see a reaction from the public (including Yes voters).

I've no problem with ****s voting No. At the end of the day the people with sense (most of us on here :bandit:) are voting for what they think is best I reckon. I don't think Salmond, Cameron, Clegg or Miliband have actually influenced that many voters (apart from the knuckle dragging spastics).

Early to say but I think I'll probably vote Labour in the next election. Just as long as has been ****s like Lamont and Brown get to ****.

<laugh> I pity you ... wannabe pseudo intellectual

No arguments the usual NO camp bullshit, loads of opinions and no FACTS whatsoever. So much so that he thinks calling someone an intelluctual is an insult. This of course comes from the Establisment aristos who are their by birth not interlect and therefore despise intelligence.
